Sama Wellness debuts at The Initial Sama, an Urban Wellness Sanctuary

Cover Projects is proud to announce the official launch of Sama Wellness, a dedicated wellness sanctuary located within The Initial Sama at 26 Evans Road. A holistic retreat in the heart of the city, Sama Wellness introduces a thoughtfully integrated approach to relaxation, recovery, and sustainable wellbeing, offering a holistic urban retreat for residents and visitors alike.

Sama Wellness forms part of The Initial Sama, Singapore’s first wellness-focused serviced residence, offering a restorative environment where design, hospitality, and holistic health come together to support modern lifestyles. The opening represents a significant milestone in the residence’s vision to create a destination where individuals can pause, reset, and reconnect with their well-being.

Shaping Wellness Through Tranquil Amenities

Sama Wellness features a suite of thoughtfully curated facilities that support both relaxation and physical recovery. The space includes dedicated spa treatment rooms, a HYROX affiliate gym, a dental aesthetics clinic, and medical consultation rooms, creating an environment that supports both preventative wellness and restorative care.

Guests can retreat to the sanctuary of Sama Wellness with massage services starting at SG$170 for 60 minutes of in-house speciality treatments such as Signature Sama and Knots Kneading, while wellness therapies such as the Magnesium Muscle Melt, Zinc-Infused Restoration, and Echinacea Immunity Boost, start at SG$180. Tailored to address modern stressors, each treatment blends therapeutic techniques with mineral-rich formulations to promote muscle recovery, circulation, and overall relaxation.

A selection of curated add-on treatments, including Dry Brushing, Basalt Hot Stone, and Aloe Afterglow, is available from SG$60, allowing guests to tailor their own restorative experience.

Fitness is also integrated into the residence’s broader wellness ecosystem, with the gym equipped with official HYROX equipment alongside high-performance machines from Centr and Concept2. This provides fitness enthusiasts and HYROX athletes with a dedicated space for structured training and performance-focused workouts within the serene abode.

The wellness experience continues through nature-connected spaces across the residence. Guests can rejuvenate within the sensory garden, bathhouse, yoga decks, and swimming pool area, where indoor wellness experiences flow seamlessly into the tranquil outdoor surroundings.

A Serviced Residence Designed for Wellness Living

The wellness experience at The Initial Sama extends beyond treatments to include purposeful spaces that encourage balance in everyday life, from fully furnished suites to coworking lounges that provide a comfortable, inspiring environment for digital nomads to work and recharge.

Sama Wellness also introduces a Family Membership programme that expands the wellness experience beyond individual visits into everyday lifestyle access. Available from SG$4,800 for a six-month membership and SG$8,280 for a 12-month membership, the programme provides members with round-the-clock gym access, complimentary pool access for families with up to two children, and curated wellness privileges across the property.

Members also enjoy preferential rates on Sama Wellness, dining at Yara Restaurant, and event bookings, alongside added benefits such as guest passes, flexible membership pauses, and exclusive stay rates at The Initial Sama. Curated with modern families in mind, the programme reflects Sama Wellness’ commitment to fostering shared well-being experiences in a tranquil, community-oriented environment.

“With Sama Wellness, we wanted to create a space where guests can step away from the hustle of the city and focus on their well-being,” said Lim Keong Wee, Co-founder and Managing Director of Cover Projects. “Our goal is to offer an environment where wellness is not an occasional indulgence, but an integrated part of everyday life.”

The 92-unit serviced residence is not just a place to stay, Sama Wellness complements the broader vision of creating a holistic living for rest, recovery, and extended stays. The Initial Sama’s proximity to leading healthcare institutions such as Gleneagles Hospital and Mount Elizabeth Hospital also positions it well for wellness and medical travellers seeking a calm space for recovery and recuperation.

Honouring Heritage, Redefining Hospitality

Just steps away from the UNESCO-listed Singapore Botanic Gardens and surrounded by some of Singapore’s leading medical institutions, Sama Wellness sits within one of the city’s most storied addresses.

The site, formerly home to Eusoff College, was Singapore’s first residential hall for women at the University of Malaya, established in 1958. Today, that legacy of community and progress has been thoughtfully preserved and reimagined as part of The Initial Sama.

The property, awarded through a redevelopment tender by the Singapore Land Authority back in 2024, retains its colonial-era architectural charm while integrating modern wellness infrastructure, sustainability features, and biophilic design.

The opening of Sama Wellness marks a new chapter for 26 Evans Road, one that blends heritage with the future of wellness hospitality in Singapore.

I am a spa lover and like all good things wellness and holistic, so I decided to drop by Sama Wellness one evening, after a long tiring day of tennis and golf, to try out the spa menu. I was greeted by Jei Win, the polite and friendly Concierge who brought me on a tour of the Initial Sama. He showed me the spa menu and recommended the 90 minute Signature Sama spa treatment for $230. Symbolising infinity, the Signature Sama utilises figure-of-eight techniques to create a therapeutic, bespoke experience from head to toe. By enhancing the flow of energy, the rhythmic motion helps to restore balance and harmony by improving circulation, easing tension, while providing a deeply relaxing experience. He explained that Wellness Goals were for restoring balance, relaxation and enhancing flow of energy. He then brought out a selection tray of essential scented oils for me to select and blend my own bespoke concoction of energizing Chamomile and Pine for my spa treatment.

My spa therapist was Nora, a highly experienced and skillfull local masseur with many years of experience. A truly great massage treatment is far more than someone just rubbing your back—it is a seamless, sensory experience tailored completely to how your body feels that specific day. A premium treatment relies on three core pillars: ambience, communication, and technical flow.

Communication:

I was asked about my injury history, which body parts I preferred for her to focus more on, and which parts for her to avoid. I was also asked if I preferred light, medium or strong pressure.

The Sensory Environment:

The room decor was a sanctuary. Ambient lighting was dim and warm, linens were clean and piped in instrumental spa music helped to relax my mind.

Technical Execution & Flow:

Nora began with long, gliding strokes using light-to-medium pressure. This spread the oil or lotion, warmed up my muscle tissue, and allowed her to feel for areas of tightness or hidden knots. As my muscles relax, she then transitioned to deeper kneading and rolling motions. This increased localized blood circulation and begins to untangle deeper muscle tension.

She used her knuckles, forearms, and thumbs to apply sustained pressure to my specific trigger points. She would occassionally check in on the pain scale - it felt like a "good hurt," never a sharp or agonizing pain that caused me to hold my breath.

The transition was seamless. I never once felt the Nora abruptly lift both hands off my body. A great practitioner always keeps at least one hand in contact with you as they move from one muscle group to the next, maintaining a hypnotic, unbroken flow.

After my treatment, I was ushered to the Wellness Lounge for some relaxing tea and healthy nuts and dried fruit,

Overall Verdict:

A very relaxing and invigorating spa treatment at a lush historic oasis just on the outskirts of the city. Special thanks to Nora and Jei Win for their professionalism and customer-oriented service and taking good care of me. I will be back again for sure to try out their other treatments.
