The event will host over 40 sake brewers from Japan and showcase more than 600 sakes, a new masterclass arena, and an izakaya alley led by the Tanpaga Yokocho chefs. Sake Festival Singapore 2026, known as one of Asia’s premier sake and Japanese spirits festivals, has unveiled the theme for its 11th year: 'The Masters’ Return.' This edition will feature over 40 sake brewers from Japan and include more than 600 sakes and spirits, a new workshop arena, and a vibrant izakaya alley led by the Tanjong Pagar Yokocho group of chefs. The eagerly awaited annual event is set for Saturday, 20 June 2026, at the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre. Tickets are available for $60 in advance and $70 at the door, with a special 5+1 bundle deal: purchase 5 tickets and receive 1 free! Organised by Orihara, Singapore’s leading distributor of nihonshu (sake made in the traditional Japanese way), this year's festival celebrates the rich heritage of Japanese beverage culture. Since its inception in 2014, Sake Festival Singapore has remained dedicated to promoting the craft and traditions of nihonshu. It is the only festival in Singapore where attendees can meet the largest number of sake producers, including kurabitos (brewery workers) and tojis (master brewers), in person. Sake Features The lineup of over 40 breweries includes the internationally renowned and innovative Dassai Inc., Hakurakusei, Yukinobosha, and Shimeharitsuru by Miyao Brewery. Sake aficionados will recognize Hakurakusei from the Niizawa Brewery in Miyagi Prefecture. The brewery transformed the sake industry by creating shokuchushu, meal-time sakes specifically designed to complement food, now highly prized by Michelin-starred restaurants. Shimeharitsuru is renowned for its brewers' commitment to crafting exceptional sake, balancing rich and light flavors using the pure underground water flowing from the Asahi mountain range via the Miomote River. At the festival, attendees can explore a variety of unique sake stories, including: Azuma Rikishi — CAVE UROKO 5: A blend of five different cave-aged sakes, where the aging process imparts a deep umami character. This sake offers a rich, full-bodied, and intensely concentrated flavor profile. Yamakawa Mitsuo 2026 by Yamagata Masamune: A collaborative sake project by four breweries from Yamagata Prefecture. The name is an acronym from one character of each brewery’s brand: 'Yama' from Yamagata Masamune, 'Kawa' from Tatenokawa, 'Mitsu' from Toko/Retsu, and 'O' from Uyo Otokoyama. It sets a new standard for modern junmai sake, balancing pure ingredients with high drinkability, reminiscent of sparkling rice water. Kamotsuru Shuchu Zaishin Junmai Daiginjou: Kamotsuru Brewery, one of Hiroshima’s most historic and influential breweries, was founded in 1873 in Saijo. It is renowned for pioneering premium ginjo-style sake and producing elegant, refined sake that reflects Hiroshima’s celebrated soft-water brewing tradition. Crafted with premium Yamadanishiki grown in the pristine Zoga district of Higashihiroshima and brewed with soft subterranean water from Mt. Ryuo, this Junmai Daiginjo expresses elegant grape-like aromatics, refined depth, and a beautifully expanding rice umami. Suntory The Premium Malt’s, a long-time partner of Sake Festival Singapore, will also launch five premium serves: Mliko, Pilsner, Sunset, Half & Half, and Black Beer. Kaoru Ale and Master’s Dream, typically available only in select food and beverage outlets, will also be served . Experience Highlights Workshop Arena: Debuting this year, the Workshop Arena offers complimentary sessions by Dassai, Suntory Toki whisky, and SKLO glassware, along with curated tastings hosted by consumer group Sake Bottle Share. Sommelier-Guided Tours: Themed sake tours led by the festival’s sommeliers provide a quick, curated way for attendees to discover the exhibition floor's highlights. Izakaya Alley by Tanjong Pagar Yokocho chefs: A group of Japanese chefs from the Tanjong Pagar district, this collective has been a popular feature at the festival since their debut in 2024. They will serve classic Japanese izakaya-style dishes, including oden, karaage, California-style crab uramaki, anago (sea eel) stick sushi, and various otsumami (small bites). • BMW iX3

BMW Asia has unveiled the first series-produced Neue Klasse model. The new-generation BMW iX3 is a fully electric Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) that offers customers an initial on-the-road experience of a whole new era of Sheer Driving Pleasure. An entirely new design language gives the car a distinctive appearance that accurately reflects the technological advancements of the new model. Featuring sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology, a range of up to 805 kilometres, and a peak charging rate of 400 kW, the new BMW iX3 establishes new benchmarks for efficiency and long-distance capability. A new electronics and software architecture, including four “superbrain” high-performance computers, makes the first Neue Klasse model more intelligent and better prepared for the future than ever before. The “Heart of Joy” drivetrain and driving dynamics management technology provide unmatched handling dynamism and precision, while the latest automated driving systems enhance symbiotic human-vehicle interaction. “Today marks the next chapter in our electric journey, one that began 12 years ago with first-ever BMW i3. It reflects our continued commitment to advancing technology, expanding our electric portfolio, and understanding the evolving needs of customers in Singapore,” said Rene Gerhard, Managing Director, BMW Group Asia. “With more than 55% of new car registrations in Q1 2026 being electric, the shift is unmistakable. This is a defining moment, driven by growing confidence in electrification and demand for solutions that deliver reliability, longevity, and a seamless ownership experience. This encapsulation was shared during the official launch on 5 June 2026 in Singapore. “With the arrival of the new BMW iX3, we are redefining mobility for our customers. It is a fully integrated, holistic offering, where innovation meets emotion, and progress is experienced behind the wheel. In a market with many choices, the new BMW iX3 stands apart as a true driver’s car, delivering substance and capability beyond what is immediately visible. At BMW, true innovation is never about surface-level features, it is about the depth of engineering, precision of driving dynamics, and intelligent technology that delivers lasting value,” Gerhard added. The digital user experience in the new BMW iX3 is defined by the BMW Panoramic iDrive, which enhances intuitive operation and the driver-focused approach the brand is known for, taking it to a new level. Additionally, a comprehensive sustainability concept reduces the car's product carbon footprint by over 30% throughout its life cycle compared to its predecessor. The first Neue Klasse model is manufactured at the newly established BMW Group plant in Debrecen, Hungary. The new BMW iX3 marks a significant advancement over its predecessor, surpassing a typical model update. The improvements in design and technology give the impression of skipping an entire vehicle generation. For the BMW Group, the launch of the new BMW iX3 is a key milestone in the transformation process concerning electrification, digitalization, and circularity. Leading the introduction of the Neue Klasse, it brings customers the latest design and technology innovations that will influence the brand's entire model range in the future. Introduction of the new design language: streamlined, distinctive, and timeless. Significant technological advancements present a chance to implement more notable design changes. The new BMW iX3 will debut the BMW design language, which will eventually be applied across the brand’s entire model lineup. This new form usage offers a contemporary take on BMW’s classic and enduring blueprint. The design is timeless while also reflecting the current zeitgeist. It distills the essence of the BMW brand, making it more BMW than ever before. Consequently, comprehensive design protection has been secured for the new BMW design language featured in the BMW iX3. The new BMW iX3 embodies the values and qualities of the Neue Klasse within the framework of an SAV. As the first BMW X model of the new generation, it focuses on interior space and a forward-thinking lifestyle. Measuring 4,782 millimeters in length, 1,895 millimeters in width, and 1,635 millimeters in height, the new BMW iX3 displays the typical proportions of an SAV. The distinctive two-box design incorporates the robust presence of a BMW X model and features precise lines that highlight all four wheels. Optimized aerodynamics result in a drag coefficient (Cd) of 0.24. The upright front end and distinct surfaces of the new BMW iX3 create a commanding presence. The BMW kidney grille and dual headlights, both classic BMW design features, stand out visually. The sculpted kidney grille, with its vertical design, harks back to the Neue Klasse of the 1960s. A new light signature replaces chrome, enhancing the car's aura of quality and sophistication. Interior design: a modern space focused on the driver, offering exceptional comfort for all passengers. The interior of the new BMW iX3 sets new standards in modernity and digital experience. Its minimalist design serves as the perfect backdrop for digital interactions, emphasizing BMW's driver-centric approach while ensuring comfort for all passengers. Specifically designed for electric vehicles, the architecture provides ample space for all five seats. The lines of the "floating" instrument panel blend seamlessly with the large door trim panels, creating an enveloping effect. The instrument panel, featuring a fabric surface and atmospheric backlighting, adds warmth and invitation to the interior. Large windows and the optional panoramic sunroof with climate comfort glazing create a bright and airy ambiance. The horizontally arranged cockpit prominently features the new BMW Panoramic iDrive control/operation system, based on the newly developed BMW Operating System X. It integrates displays, geometry, and light & sound design into a cohesive experience, customizable via My Modes. The BMW HypersonX soundscape, created specifically for the Neue Klasse, introduces new driving sounds, sound effects, and sound signals. The new design's elegantly minimalist seats offer excellent comfort on long journeys, a sporty character, and a wide range of adjustments. The steering wheel and center console, located between the driver's and front passenger's seats, have also been redesigned, featuring storage areas and control elements. The rear seat bench provides a single, sofa-like seat surface. Carefully arranged interior themes give each equipment package a unique and distinct character. The materials and color schemes, inspired by modern interior design and advanced Neue Klasse technology, are harmoniously coordinated to enhance the exceptional comfort inside the new BMW iX3. A variety of colors allows for a perfect match between interior tones and exterior paint finishes. Besides the standard Contemporary interior design in Veganza, customers can choose from two other options: the black BMW M interior in Veganza and M PerformTex, and the BMW Individual option featuring a high-quality Merino leather/M PerformTex combination in Black Bicolour or Adelaide Grey. The new BMW iX3 comes standard with the M Sport package in Singapore, boosting its dynamic appearance with Black high-gloss exterior features, Multifunctional seats, and a Sports steering wheel. The BMW Iconic Glow exterior package offers an impressive sound and light sequence with Relaxed, Balanced, and Excited styles. The welcome sequence starts as soon as the driver approaches the vehicle, and when seated, an animated greeting begins on the BMW Panoramic Vision and Central Display, smoothly transitioning from the driver's side to the front passenger side. BMW Panoramic iDrive: ultimate driver focus, BMW-style. The new BMW iX3 is the first production model to feature BMW Panoramic iDrive, redefining the user experience and enhancing Sheer Driving Pleasure. By balancing digital functions and physical elements, BMW Panoramic iDrive elevates intuitive operation to a new level of driver focus, adhering to BMW's "hands on the wheel, eyes on the road" principle. The system is based on decades of experience and a user-centric design approach, incorporating feedback from individual customers, data from over 10 million connected vehicles, and usability studies with more than 3,000 customers. Physical controls are available for functions like windscreen wipers, turn signal indicators, exterior mirrors, volume control, gear selector, parking brake, hazard warning lights, rear window heating, and defrost function. Other functions have been optimized for touch and voice command or via the multifunction steering wheel. The BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant has been significantly upgraded, now featuring two new voices, a new appearance for the BMW Panoramic Vision, and additional driver assistance through proactive suggestions and customizable routines. Large Language Model (LLM) technology enables even more intuitive voice interaction. BMW Panoramic iDrive is supported by the newly developed BMW Operating System X, offering extensive personalization options via the BMW ID, intelligent driver assistance, a variety of digital functions, extensive connectivity through the My BMW App, and excellent future-proofing with BMW Software Updates. The standard navigation system, BMW Maps, includes an upgrade for charging-optimized route guidance and intelligently coordinated information presentation on the BMW Panoramic Vision, Central Display, and 3D Head-Up Display. The BMW Digital Key Plus can be set up on smartphones and smartwatches from all leading manufacturers. BMW Operating System X provides a wide range of entertainment options on the road and during charging stops, including music streaming apps like Spotify, in-car gaming with AirConsole, and a video-streaming app offering Disney+, YouTube, and other on-demand and live video platforms. The Zoom App for video calls is also available. Sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology: higher efficiency, more range, faster charging. The sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology developed for the Neue Klasse includes highly efficient electric motors, new high-voltage batteries with cylindrical cells, and 800V technology. The new BMW iX3 50 xDrive is powered by two electric motors, generating a combined output of 345 kW/469 hp and 645 Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 210 km/h. Its electric all-wheel-drive setup features an upgraded electrically excited synchronous motor (EESM) with high efficiency at the rear axle and a new asynchronous motor (ASM) with a compact design at the front axle. The combination of EESM and ASM showcases BMW Group's commitment to technological neutrality in electric mobility. The drive technology for the Neue Klasse reduces energy losses by 40% compared to the fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology and weight by 10%. BMW Charging: short charging times, debut for bidirectional charging. Advancements in sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology significantly impact the charging experience. A maximum charging rate of 400 kW allows users to add up to 372 kilometers of range in just 10 minutes at an 800V direct current (DC) rapid charging station. The high-voltage battery can charge from 10% to 80% capacity in 21 minutes. Thanks to the battery management technology with an integrated switching matrix developed in-house by BMW Group, the new BMW iX3 can also charge from 400V DC stations. Battery preparation upgrades further reduce charging times. The new BMW iX3 50 xDrive can charge on alternating current (AC) at 22 kW as standard. Enhancing driving pleasure, comfort, and versatility through equipment and individualization. The new BMW iX3 will be offered with one solid and eight metallic paint options at launch. • Parfums Sophie La Girafe

Fragrance that Begins from Childhood.. Some memories cannot be explained. A scent, fleeting and almost imperceptible… and suddenly everything comes rushing back. Fragrance has a unique power: the ability to capture a moment, anchor an emotion, and tell a story without words. So why wait until adulthood to be introduced to it? Today, a new vision of perfumery is emerging—gentler, more mindful, and designed to accompany little ones through their first sensory discoveries. Because wearing fragrance is not simply about smelling good; it is already about learning to feel. A Childhood Icon, A New Language of the Senses Standing three meters tall at the TFWA World Exhibition & Conference 2026, the leading international travel retail event in Singapore, Sophie la Girafe remains an unmistakable presence. Created in 1961, this familiar natural rubber silhouette has accompanied generations of children. She comforts, entertains, and stimulates curiosity. Today, she extends that intimate relationship into a new territory: skincare and fragrance. Driven by Angel Cosmetics, a specialist in children's perfumery, this evolution is far from anecdotal. It reflects a strong belief: our earliest sensory experiences are foundational. The Sophie la Girafe collection goes far beyond fragrance, offering a complete world of care designed to accompany little ones from their very first days. At the heart of the range is the Scented Skincare Water, an alcohol-free scented water specially formulated for newborns and expectant mothers. Enriched with organic glycerin and prickly pear stem extract, it helps hydrate, nourish, and protect even the most delicate skin while leaving behind a soft, comforting scent. The collection also showcases a selection of Eaux de Toilette and Colognes with more distinctive personalities, thoughtfully created to delight both little girls and little boys. To extend this sensory experience, Sophie la Girafe offers a complete skincare and hygiene ritual, including a hair and body cleasing gel, a moisturizing body lotion, and gentle cleansing wipes, all alcohol-free and carefully formulated to respect babies’ sensitive skin. To make every gift even more memorable, the brand has also created a range of charming gift sets specially designed for young children. These delightful sets combine fragrance and skincare products with adorable keepsakes, such as a Sophie la Girafe plush toy or teething ring, transforming each gift into a treasured childhood memory. Learning to Smell Is Learning to Grow Before words come sensations. Before conscious memories come emotions. Fragrance then becomes an invisible language. It accompanies daily rituals, soothes, intrigues, and marks special moments. A scent can become a reference point, a signature, an emotional imprint. Introducing a child to fragrance means offering a first aesthetic experience of the world. It means awakening curiosity, nurturing imagination, and laying the foundations for a sensitive and meaningful relationship with their surroundings. Giving a Fragrance, Giving a Memory It is no longer simply about perfuming. It is about passing something on. An everyday gesture becomes a moment of connection. A fragrance becomes a memory in the making. A universe becomes an experience. Through Sophie la Girafe, children's perfumery emerges as a new kind of obvious choice: a gentle, intimate luxury rooted in emotion. A luxury that is not seen, but felt. Want to discover more? We enjoyed the delicious Prosecco that accompanied our facial toiletries set, fruits, and cake as part of the welcome gift set, I couldn't help enjoying the quiet moment and listen to the environs of nature, as I partook of my bubbly with some specially basked New World Phu Quoc themed-cake and fruits. Culinary Venues: Restaurants & Bars New World Phu Quoc is exemplified by 5 distinctly charming Food & Beverage (F&B) Concepts, each unique on it's own with a truly brilliant cuisine type and style. LUA Grill & Bar LUA brings a lively and engaging Italian dining experience to Phu Quoc, honouring the depth of Italy’s culinary heritage with a contemporary flair. Focused on fresh, locally sourced, seasonal ingredients, LUA’s menu showcases handmade pastas, wood-fired specialties, and lively dishes prepared table-side for an immersive, sensory experience. We savoured a variety of exceptional Italian dishes with live cooking from the open kitchen. The Burrata was typically Italian and we like it this way; marinated Eggplant prepared with Sun-Dried Tomato, Olives & Basil maketh a classique dish at this restaurant. Chef Alessandro reinterprets familiar Italian flavours in a contemporary style; he draws on the flavours of Porcini Mushroom and Smoked Shiitake served in a rich bisque infused with Porcini Dust, to create the Porcini Mushroom Cappuccino. His Tenderloin dish, delicately seasoned, is served with Roasted Garlic & Confit Shallots embedded with pepper sauce on a 200g piece of Angus Beef Tenderloin - exquisite and we ordered a medium well version, giving it a distinctly steak character. The Truffle Pizza dish brings together Pancetta notes and the natural sweetness of the mushrooms well melangé with Mozzarella, to deliver a truly tasty crust and tender structure, delicious to the bite! The Tiramisu reveals the everlasting taste of Mascarpone Cream, Ladyfinger with Bittersweet Cocoa as a nice add-on, to create a delightful dessert accompaniement with black tea. We had a glass of Louis Latour Domaine de Valmoissine, a Pinot Noir variant from Provence, France to celebrate the awesome Italian fare at this lively restaurant. COCO Beach House A beachfront eatery specialising in Vietnamese seafood and grilled dishes, complemented by sunset views and a relaxed seaside vibe. The freshest seafood, with Oysters from Ha Long, Lobster from Nha Trang and Fish varietals from Phu Quoc, aligns with the thematic philosophy of COCO; the essence of coastal living and dining! As the sun goes down, COCO Beach House welcomes guests to the beach for the Beyond the Summer Seafood Feast, an enjoyable, communal seafood bucket experience ideal for families, couples, and groups. Accompanied by refreshing Rosé or Riesling options and set against the stunning backdrop of Phu Quoc’s golden sunsets from 3 PM to 6 PM, it offers the perfect way to embrace the essence of summer by the sea. For starters, we fell in love with the Marinated Ha Long Oysters with Vietnamese Chillis, Local Phu Quoc Herbs in a deeply comforting Citrus Sauce. Their dish, Ham Ninh Blue Crab Noodle Soup, which is almost like a type of Bun Rieu but characterised from a Rach Gia - Kien Giang version, features blue crab bathed in herbs, complemented by Banana Blossom and mint-dressed Lime. The steamed dish of Blue Grouper was lifted by a bevy of Pandan Leaves and separate spiced dip with Ginger Kumquat Fish Sauce, adding softness and depth for tasty finish. The menu at COCO beach House leans into Vietnamese ingredients and traditional sauces; the Wok Fried Boston Lobster (which was changed to a Nha Trang Lobster upon my request to Nhi) was served with Egg Noodles, Asparagus and Oyster Sauce. A second Wok Fried Scallop dish that showcases plump juicy scallops with Sticky Rice, Capsicum, XO Sauce brought out both sea-based and fresh notes, with yummy flavoured sauces. Tofu Pudding unfold as our dessert that delivers an oomph, as I am always impressed by their tofu desserts, that comes in the mix of Ginger Syrup with Coconut Milk; simple yet refreshing a very hearty fresh and grilled seafood lunch; we had some Watermelon Juice and 2 large coconuts (nicely carved out the Resort insignia) to quench my thirst on this hot day! Zoya It showcases an Indo-Arabic dining venue inspired by the legendary Silk Road. Here, bold spices, timeless rituals, and culinary traditions from the East and West come together in a captivating flavour journey. Zoya operates solely for dinner between 6:30 pm and 10:30 pm. This fully halal-certified restaurant provides peace of mind and enjoyment, with each dish carefully crafted to honor tradition, ingredients, and culinary integrity. They offer a wide range of chaat dishes, including Avocado Palak Patta Chaat and Kurkure Aloo Papdi Chaat, alongside tandoor specialties like Dhungaar Paneer, Tandoor Ke Phool, and the signature Sunehera Truffle Murgh Tikka. Seafood is a highlight with options such as Black Grouper Pollichathu, Malabar Fish Curry, and the bold Madurai Pepper Lobster. Comforting classics like Bhuna Ghost Masala, Baigan Alu Ka Saag, and Dal Zoya showcase the art of slow cooking. Soulful biryanis like Hyderabadi Lamb Biryani (Kiraak) and Safed Yakhni Murgh Biryani are beautifully layered with long-grain basmati and gentle spices. We began our experience with the Avocado Palak Patta Chaat, featuring a blend of avocado and spinach fritters, perfectly prepared for dipping in tamarind and mint sauce, offering a vibrant modern twist. The Black Grouper Pollichathu was exceptionally delightful and among the best I've tasted in Asia; made with locally-caught Phu Quoc black grouper, this dish is wrapped and slow-cooked in banana leaves, then enhanced with homemade tomato garlic chutney and recommended by Chef Prafull. Living in Singapore, I rarely encounter Chowki Murgh, but I was pleasantly surprised by this rich, slow-cooked North Indian and Mughlai chicken dish. It tasted fantastic with its mix of hand-pounded spices, onions, and yogurt, and the boneless chicken thigh was perfectly simmered in an aromatic, flavorful, and slightly tangy gravy. This was excellently paired with the Garlic Naan, a type of bread traditionally baked in a clay oven with garlic butter, where the brown baked spots enhanced the dish's appeal. We had to sample their classique Dal, and so we went with the Dal Zoya, which is based on "Chef Javed's" family recipe of black gram (a type of bean) and kidney beans and slow cooked to perfection for 24 hours. Next, we went for the main course, comprising the Kirak Briyani, where the "World's famous Hyderabadi" Lamb biryani is cooked with in-house grounded spices and to the tune of curated perfection, so tasty, just marvelous! We finished off the meal with a generous portion of frozen creamy saffron latched on to a bedding of pistachio parfait, termed the "Kesar Pista Kulfi", it concluded our course with a nice cup of earl grey tea! “Zoya is my love letter to the Silk Road — a place where cultures met at the table, where spices told stories, and where every dish carried the warmth of a shared journey. Here, I want guests to experience familiar flavors, refined and elevated, yet infused with soul. Every plate is crafted not just to be tasted, but to be remembered,” said Chef Jazib Javed, Chef de Cuisine of Zoya. The Bay Kitchen An all-day dining venue featuring a diverse selection of international cuisines and we also had our daily breakfast here with a huge array of breakfast and international delights. Their Xôi or glutinous rice is a highlight here, with both savoury and sweet condiments accompanied by a delightful choice of Vietnamese-centric garnishes and supplements. We like to daily noodles, which can be in the form of a Pho, a Mi Noodle or Bun soup assortment, giving distinctiveness to the Vietnamese culinary culture. Bay Kitchen offers a lively breakfast buffet complete with live cooking stations, allowing guests to savor Phu Quoc specialties, Vietnamese cuisine, and international favorites, all prepared by their skilled chefs. The Bay Kitchen offers the Summer Escape Afternoon Tea, a sophisticated afternoon tea experience with a tropical theme. It includes fresh fruits, light desserts, and refreshing iced tea pairings such as Coconut Iced Tea and Mango Iced Tea. This is perfect for couples, families, and Instagram-worthy moments, available from 2 PM to 6 PM daily. We wanted to create a space and a menu that guests can keep coming back to, whether it is a relaxed drink at golden hour or an unhurried evening by the pool.” When the Rosette Media team chatted with Felix at the launch event, he told us the cocktails were personally curated by him. • ATx Summit 2026 • Harness AI for Public Good

The ATxSummit 2026 commenced with Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam serving as the Guest-of-Honour at the Opening Gala Dinner held at Gardens by the Bay. This year's ATxSummit gathers government leaders from Asia, the Middle East, and the United States, alongside international organizations such as the World Bank, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). Industry and academic figures include Denise Dresser, OpenAI’s Chief Revenue Officer, David Zapolsky, Chief Global Affairs & Legal Officer at Amazon, Jane Sun, CEO of Trip.com Group, William Dally, Chief Scientist at NVIDIA, Professor Yoshua Bengio from the University of Montreal, a pioneer in deep learning, and Professor Dawn Song from the University of California, Berkeley, known for her work in AI security and trustworthy machine learning. ASEAN’s Youth Present AI-Driven Solutions for Society The highlight of this year’s Gala Dinner was a new exhibition of 11 youth projects from the inaugural AI Ready ASEAN Youth Challenge. With AI adoption in the region reaching 85% in 20241, these projects showcased how the next generation in ASEAN is already developing practical AI solutions for societal benefit. Selected from over 600 team submissions across all ASEAN Member States, the 11 projects covered themes such as healthcare, education, social inclusion, and agriculture, all aiming to enhance lives and strengthen communities throughout the region. President Tharman awarded the top three prizes to teams from Brunei, Cambodia, and Myanmar. The three winning teams presented innovative applications aligned with the Challenge’s focus on knowledge, skills and learning, scientific advancement, and stronger communities. Brunei’s ΣHAI, the overall winner, created an AI-driven dementia care platform utilizing speech, language, and video analysis to aid in early detection of cognitive decline, offer personalized caregiver guidance, and improve dementia care coordination across ASEAN communities. Cambodia’s Voha.ai used AI to assist hearing-impaired children in enhancing their pronunciation through real-time speech recognition and visual mouth-tracking technology. Future Flux from Myanmar developed an offline AI education platform powered by edge computing to provide rural students with access to digital learning, adaptive lessons, and AI tutoring in areas with limited internet connectivity. These winners received cash prizes of USD 5,000, USD 3,000, and USD 1,000, respectively. Koo Seng Meng, Director of Talent & Ecosystem at AI Singapore, stated, "We aim for our AI Ready ASEAN initiative to inspire future generations to not only understand AI but also recognize its significance, appropriate applications, and potential to enhance lives." “With Sahabat-Care, our goal was to tackle the increasing challenge of dementia detection and caregiver support in Southeast Asia. This platform has allowed us to investigate how AI can provide caregivers with timely insights, personalized guidance, and improved decision-making for elderly care.” The AI Ready ASEAN Youth Challenge is a regional ideathon organized by AI Singapore (AISG) in collaboration with the ASEAN Foundation, supported by Google.org, and in partnership with the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA). It is a component of the AI Ready ASEAN initiative, aiming to equip 5.5 million individuals with foundational AI knowledge and skills. Centered on the theme “AI for an Inclusive and Sustainable ASEAN,” the Challenge invited youth aged 18 to 35 to create AI-based solutions in three key areas: knowledge, skills and learning, scientific progress, and stronger communities. Each proposal had to demonstrate practical applications, including outreach to at least 1,000 community members. AI-Powered Healthcare Research and Solutions Earlier in the day, two Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) were signed at the SingHealth AI in Health Symposium held at Capella, Singapore, a pre-event of ATxSummit 2026. These MoUs aim to advance AI-driven healthcare research and expedite practical solutions for patients and health systems. They highlight the urgent need for scalable solutions due to ageing populations, increasing chronic disease burdens, and unequal access to care, which are putting pressure on healthcare systems across Southeast Asia. They also illustrate how AI is increasingly addressing these challenges by enhancing clinical decision-making, supporting healthcare workers, and extending quality care to more patients: SingHealth and the Gyalpozhing College of Information Technology (GCIT), Royal University of Bhutan, signed an MoU to develop and implement innovative initiatives that promote the responsible use of AI in healthcare, focusing on creating localized solutions for emerging healthcare systems. Central to the collaboration is an AI-assisted Chest Radiograph model powered by MerMED-FM, a multimodal, multi-specialty medical imaging foundation model developed through a partnership between SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medicine Centre and A*STAR's Institute of High Performance Computing. Published in The Lancet Digital Health, the model has shown strong performance in detecting pneumonia, tuberculosis, hepatic masses, and colorectal cancer. Trained on Bhutanese data and scheduled for deployment in 2027 across Bhutan's Gelephu Mindfulness City Healthcare Hospitals, the model provides specialist-level diagnostic capabilities to rural communities where geographical barriers and a lack of radiological expertise are significant challenges, signaling SingHealth's broader ambition to transform diagnostic care across the region. Singapore General Hospital (SGH), the flagship hospital of SingHealth, Singapore's largest public healthcare cluster, also signed an MoU with the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR)’s Diagnostics Development Hub (DxD Hub) to accelerate the transition of AI-enabled and multimodal precision diagnostics into market-ready solutions. This partnership aims to rapidly develop commercially scalable diagnostic tools, from combating antimicrobial resistance infections to detecting early memory loss in seniors, with the goal of creating investable companies that deliver sustainable health and economic impact to Singapore and beyond. asiatechxsg.com.

  • Taizi • New Zealand-based Baijiu

From mixing cheap vodka and Sprite to sell to his fellow Somes House students to developing a luxury goods brand that features the world’s first Western-made Baijiu distilled from fermented sorghum, Old Boy Sam Lu (12670) relishes challenges. A co-owner of Formosa Foods and the man behind Taizi, Sam is busy developing a wide-ranging brand encompassing a “rocket fuel” described as ‘58% proof Chinese fire spirit’, a new eau de parfum – named ‘58’ in a nod to the strength of his white liquor – and high-quality leathergoods. He will also celebrate the 20th anniversary of the family company, Formosa Foods, alongside his brother, Ben, and their mother, in 2027. The businesses have been inspired by his Taiwanese background but “born out of New Zealand”, starting with his first ‘drinks business’ at Christ’s College. “My dream is to build Taizi into an international luxury brand, based in one of the best cities in the world – Christchurch,” Sam says. Arriving at College as a Year 10 boarder in Jacobs House, Sam then opted to become a dayboy, moving to Somes House in 2001, where he undertook his initial business foray despite being under the ever-watchful eye of formidable Housemaster Rob Donaldson. “My earliest entrepreneurial steps were taken in my early years at College, and those initial friendships and connections are still so important in business today.” Sam recalls his school years as “challenging, but rewarding in the long term” and appreciates those “strong, lifelong College bonds”. Describing himself as “rebellious, with a passion for sport”, Sam also valued Japanese with the “cool” Steve Everingham, Chemistry with Dr Craig Aitken, and Biology with Graeme Worner. Post-College, he undertook a Bachelor of Arts, focusing on Psychology and Japanese at the University of Canterbury. However, a family inspired move into food production meant that he left university three papers short of his degree. Wanting to manage their own career path, the family had bought an existing business in 2007, with three machines manufacturing fresh noodles and pastries. That decision has paid off, with Formosa Foods entrenched in the South Island hospitality industry – and rapidly expanding into the North Island – as a leading supplier of noodles and pastries, such as wontons and dumplings. “We started in our home garage and I soon realised I was too busy to return to university,” Sam says. “It was an opportunity for me but probably a bit reckless. The next year, we moved to our present factory in Burnside as demand grew.” And this year, the first Formosa Foods product is now available through leading wholesale distributor Bidfood. While establishing Formosa Foods, Sam also realised there was an opportunity to create a local version of Baijiu – the top-selling alcohol in the world, originating in China. “We held a College reunion house party in 2007 where we talked about what we could do regarding business opportunities, including making a Western version of the famous sorghum spirit, Baijiu. It was very difficult to find it here, and scarcity was a real issue.” After nearly four years of research and development from 2009–2013 and a search for a top-shelf distillery, Taizi is the “world's first Western-made Baijiu, crafted in Christchurch by Kaiapoi Distillery using Southern Alps spring water, New Zealand wheat, and Australian sorghum”. “Taizi means ‘crown prince’ and the journey to developing this premium product has been difficult as all my competitors are Chinese state-owned,” Sam says. “However, we have steadily built up the business, with Taizi now sold in most bottle stores, Ballantynes, and high-end bars and restaurants, as well as duty-free stores. “We are about to move into the international market, promoting Taizi and our perfume, 58, at the Tax-free World Association Exhibition for luxury brands in Singapore.” While both products reflect the brothers’ Asian heritage, they are – in essence – New Zealand-grown, born out of a blending of cultures. We met Sam on the auspices of the latest TFWA showcase in Singapore in 2026, and were impressed with the scent, taste, structure and quality of this premium and amazing Bai Jiu!

  • Lacrima • SIFA 2026

When the Princess of England announces her engagement, a prestigious Parisian haute couture fashion house receives an extraordinary commission, leading to a captivating story that spans continents and generations. Renowned theater maker Caroline Guiela Nguyen transforms the stage into a lively workshop in this expansive play about the artisans behind the garments we admire. Bound by a vow of complete secrecy, craftspeople worldwide dedicate eight months to the meticulous creation of a single wedding dress. Marion, the overburdened head seamstress at Maison Beliana, grapples with difficult questions from her troubled daughter, while Thérése, a lacemaker from Alençon, confronts a complex family history. Meanwhile, in Mumbai, master embroiderer Abdul attaches 1,000 roses to duchesse satin as his eyesight quickly declines. As these individuals push themselves to the brink in their quest for perfection, Lacrima explores the delicate balance between what destroys us and what gives our lives meaning. Lacrima gives off the essence of illusion, in an era gone-by, a thorough turn of events, that is both dramatic yet reflective, on every-day life, the struggles of each family, in the context of their tasks at hand, on stress management and the inability to herald one's fortune based on their own temperament and personality. The essence of lace-making is learnt and shared throughout the performance; a series of timed movement is anticipated at each turn of events, during the showcase; a true depiction of inherent family issues, of difficult parents and troublesome children, and in the middle of it all, the love that is contained within; those of an inherited social value, depicted through the lens of modern societal problems and the effect of tolerance and perseverance, yet so endearing at all moments! What a great performance! Rosette Media Art Performance Rating : 8.6/10
