Hosted by ex-Formula 1 Driver and TV Celebrity Alex Yoong and E! News Asia’s Yvette King from 10pm until late, the thousands of guests that attend every year can expect a mega new line up over three nights with incredible entertainment featuring:
Friday, September 14th – first ever Boyzlife performance in Singapore and behind-the-scenes special by Keith Duffy (Boyzone) and Brian McFadden (Westlife) Saturday, September 15th – special guest Celebrity DJ, (Good Charlotte) Sunday, September 16th – celebratory Race Night performance by Taboo (Black Eyed Peas) Recognised as the most glamorous celebration of Singapore’s iconic night race, situated within the track and directly across from The Paddock Club, The Podium Lounge hosts Formula 1 drivers & teams, Royalty, celebrities, ambassadors, supermodels and Asia’s jet-setting party elite each year. Guests will be taken on an exciting journey by ex-Formula 1 Driver and FOX Sports Asia’s F1 Pundit Alex Yoong who will be hosting the drivers, celebrity guests and performers on the red carpet each night, alongside E! News Asia host Yvette King.
Leading vocalists from much-loved boy bands Boyzone (who just announced their split after 25 years) and Westlife are joining forces for a very special concert on the Opening Night (Friday, September 14th) of The Podium Lounge. Performing the biggest hits from their bands’ back catalogues, Keith Duffy and Brian McFadden are bringing their Boyzlife Tour to Singapore this Grand Prix Season. As well as singing, the pair also promise to lift the lid on the highs and lows on their road to stardom and the pros and cons of life in the spotlight. The lifelong friends will perform many of the huge hits that have brought them so much success including classics such as ‘No Matter What’, ‘Love Me for a Reason’, ‘You Raise Me Up’ and ‘Flying Without Wings’. The event brings together members of two of the biggest boy bands in history, Boyzone and Westlife, to share stories, laughter, and of course, their biggest chart hits.
With Westlife, Brian McFadden enjoyed 12 UK and Ireland No.1 hits, including a record-breaking seven top spots in a row. The band also boast four No.1 albums and over 30 million in total record sales. Since then Brian has enjoyed international solo success, including a UK No. 1 with ‘Real to Me’.
With Boyzone, Keith Duffy has enjoyed similar success, including six UK No.1 singles and 16 out of 17 of their first single releases making the top 5. With five No.1 albums also to their credit, Boyzone achieved worldwide sales of over 25 million.
Headlining Saturday, September 15th is none other than celebrity DJ, record producer and actor Joel Madden. Joel Madden is not only the co-founder and frontman of the multi-platinum rock band Good Charlotte together with his identical twin Benji Madden, but a pillar in the global music community both in front of, and behind the scenes. Joel is well-recognised as the husband of Nicole Richie and a coach on The Voice Australia since it’s inception in 2012. As a fixture on The Voice Australia for all five seasons, he coaches emerging talent, and with his management company MDDN, works with a roster of high profile clients and exciting new acts. He has also been featured in TV series ‘Empire’, a show based on the music industry, and has a clothing line known as MADE Clothing which he started with his brothers.
On Race Night, Sunday, September 16th, worldwide musical sensation Taboo, a member of Grammy Award winning urban group The Black Eyed Peas who’ve sold over 50 million albums globally, will be rocking the high octane party, following the track-side action on the Marina Bay Circuit. Taboo is a talented and unique performer; as well as being a key part of the world famous and highly acclaimed R&B and rap group The Black Eyed Peas, he is also an acclaimed DJ and singer in his own right. Growing up with music being played at all times, Taboo puts his musical knowledge and talent to great use, and succeeds in working every corner of a crowd, always filling the dance floor with writhing bodies and smiling faces.
It was back in 1995 that Taboo first got involved in the music scene, initially forming the band The Black Eyed Peas with Will.I.Am. Coming from a breakdancing scene, he has a real grounding in urban beats, meaning club music and associated sounds have always held an important place in his heart. When dropping sets around the world, whether to massive festival crowds or more intimate club dancers, he draws upon the worlds of funk, soul, hip hop and many more genres in order to create a real party vibe.
From the pit lane to the catwalk and adding to the glamour of the adrenaline-filled Singapore Grand Prix Weekend, the nightly Fashion Circuit will take place with international models and celebrities on The Podium Lounge’s iconic catwalk. Featuring saavy, hip-hop inspired streetwear line EGO by Strawn Teague Holmes on Friday, September 14th, the launch of Cosmic Rocker Lifestyle Wear by COSMIC 108 will also be featured at The Podium Lounge this year. Armed with a macro lens, an incredible eye for detail and a truly ground breaking vision, Lisa Johnson’s guitar art, is taking the world of fine art photography on a rock’n’roll ride. Far from still life, Lisa’s work conjures the abstract, yet also possesses a very sensual and ethereal feel that intentionally illustrates the intimate wear and tear details of the instrument.
MTHEMOVEMENT will be showcasing luxury designer streetwear for the jet set lifestyle. Celebrity designer “M” has over 20 years of experience in branding, fashion and graphic design internationally. Specialising in the process of design from conception, to design and development, to production and positioning. Starting out his career as the assistant designer for Karl Kani Jeans, he learned all that was needed to run a 450 million dollar, Forbes 500 company. Today “M” lives all over the world, creating his men and women’s designer streetwear line called MTHEMOVEMENT. His new collection for Fall 2018, with its many celebrity collaborations-including apl.d.ap of The Black Eyed Peas, is inspired by his global jet set life and will be revealed at his Podium Lounge show! Throughout his career, “M” has also styled celebrities, including The Black Eyed Peas, Kid Rock, Britney Spears, Viola Davis, Wayne Brady and Andy Lau.
The Podium Lounge Singapore is thrilled to welcome Art Works, Singapore’s leading fine art investment gallery who will present an exhibition by British contemporary artist Lincoln Townley who is known for his expressive figurative paintings. Drawn from the artist’s subconscious, the dark and often tormented imagery of Lincoln’s work seeks to evoke the chaos bubbling just below the surface of our lives, which drive our desires to succeed and win in life. Collected by the likes of Charlie Sheen, Al Pacino and Russell Brand and affectionately known by Michael Caine and others as ‘the next Andy Warhol’. Lincoln has exhibited internationally, including The National Gallery, The Royal Academy, Somerset House, The Saatchi Gallery and The Brisbane Powerhouse.
The Podium Lounge also welcomes world-famous speed painter Armin Flossdorf of F1 Arts, who will be performing live throughout the weekend. Having started off in Monaco, Armin’s first “Formula One – Fanatic Location” exhibition ten years ago, led him to specialise in Formula 1 Art using his eye-catching technique of combining acrylics and pencil on canvas. Armin has exhibited at the very highest levels of motorsport events around the world, and counts former F1 Supremo Bernie Ecclestone and FIA President Jean Todt among his collectors.
Charity is always a major focus of The Podium Lounge weekend, and this year will see a series of live auctions of authenticated and exceptionally rare F1 memorabilia with all proceeds going to a local charity. Some outstanding items include a Lewis Hamilton signed race glove showcasing the multiple Formula 1 World Champion, a Niki Lauda signed and framed 8 x 12 inch photo, capturing the highly sought after signature of the 3-time Formula 1 World Champion who famously survived a fiery crash at Nürburgring in 1976 and returned to racing only 6 weeks later.
Guests of The Podium Lounge can also look forward to the live auction of a Michael Schumacher signed full-sized F1 Helmet; a replica of one of the uniquely designed helmets worn during Schumacher’s career as a 7 time F1 World Champion, the most successful driver in F1 history; as well as a huge chequered flag signed by 20 Formula 1 World Champions including 7-time World Champion Michael Schumacher, Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel, Fernando Alonso, Kimi Raikkonen, Jenson Button, Niki Lauda, Mika Hakkinen, Emerson Fittipaldi, Mario Andretti, Nigel Mansell, Sir Jackie Stewart, Alain Prost, Alan Jones and more.
