BMW iX3

BMW Asia has unveiled the first series-produced Neue Klasse model. The new-generation BMW iX3 is a fully electric Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) that offers customers an initial on-the-road experience of a whole new era of Sheer Driving Pleasure. An entirely new design language gives the car a distinctive appearance that accurately reflects the technological advancements of the new model.

Featuring sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology, a range of up to 805 kilometres, and a peak charging rate of 400 kW, the new BMW iX3 establishes new benchmarks for efficiency and long-distance capability.  “Today marks the next chapter in our electric journey, one that began 12 years ago with first-ever BMW i3. It reflects our continued commitment to advancing technology, expanding our electric portfolio, and understanding the evolving needs of customers in Singapore,” said Rene Gerhard, Managing Director, BMW Group Asia. “With more than 55% of new car registrations in Q1 2026 being electric, the shift is unmistakable. This is a defining moment, driven by growing confidence in electrification and demand for solutions that deliver reliability, longevity, and a seamless ownership experience.  This encapsulation was shared during the official launch on 5 June 2026 in Singapore.

“With the arrival of the new BMW iX3, we are redefining mobility for our customers. It is a fully integrated, holistic offering, where innovation meets emotion, and progress is experienced behind the wheel. In a market with many choices, the new BMW iX3 stands apart as a true driver’s car, delivering substance and capability beyond what is immediately visible. At BMW, true innovation is never about surface-level features, it is about the depth of engineering, precision of driving dynamics, and intelligent technology that delivers lasting value,” Gerhard added.

The digital user experience in the new BMW iX3 is defined by the BMW Panoramic iDrive, which enhances intuitive operation and the driver-focused approach the brand is known for, taking it to a new level. Additionally, a comprehensive sustainability concept reduces the car's product carbon footprint by over 30% throughout its life cycle compared to its predecessor. The first Neue Klasse model is manufactured at the newly established BMW Group plant in Debrecen, Hungary.

The new BMW iX3 marks a significant advancement over its predecessor, surpassing a typical model update. The improvements in design and technology give the impression of skipping an entire vehicle generation. For the BMW Group, the launch of the new BMW iX3 is a key milestone in the transformation process concerning electrification, digitalization, and circularity. Leading the introduction of the Neue Klasse, it brings customers the latest design and technology innovations that will influence the brand's entire model range in the future.

Introduction of the new design language: streamlined, distinctive, and timeless.

Significant technological advancements present a chance to implement more notable design changes. The new BMW iX3 will debut the BMW design language, which will eventually be applied across the brand’s entire model lineup. This new form usage offers a contemporary take on BMW’s classic and enduring blueprint. The design is timeless while also reflecting the current zeitgeist. It distills the essence of the BMW brand, making it more BMW than ever before. Consequently, comprehensive design protection has been secured for the new BMW design language featured in the BMW iX3.

The new BMW iX3 embodies the values and qualities of the Neue Klasse within the framework of an SAV. As the first BMW X model of the new generation, it focuses on interior space and a forward-thinking lifestyle. Measuring 4,782 millimeters in length, 1,895 millimeters in width, and 1,635 millimeters in height, the new BMW iX3 displays the typical proportions of an SAV. The distinctive two-box design incorporates the robust presence of a BMW X model and features precise lines that highlight all four wheels. Optimized aerodynamics result in a drag coefficient (Cd) of 0.24.

The upright front end and distinct surfaces of the new BMW iX3 create a commanding presence. The BMW kidney grille and dual headlights, both classic BMW design features, stand out visually. The sculpted kidney grille, with its vertical design, harks back to the Neue Klasse of the 1960s. A new light signature replaces chrome, enhancing the car's aura of quality and sophistication.

Interior design: a modern space focused on the driver, offering exceptional comfort for all passengers.

The interior of the new BMW iX3 sets new standards in modernity and digital experience. Its minimalist design serves as the perfect backdrop for digital interactions, emphasizing BMW's driver-centric approach while ensuring comfort for all passengers. Specifically designed for electric vehicles, the architecture provides ample space for all five seats. The lines of the "floating" instrument panel blend seamlessly with the large door trim panels, creating an enveloping effect. The instrument panel, featuring a fabric surface and atmospheric backlighting, adds warmth and invitation to the interior. Large windows and the optional panoramic sunroof with climate comfort glazing create a bright and airy ambiance.

The horizontally arranged cockpit prominently features the new BMW Panoramic iDrive control/operation system, based on the newly developed BMW Operating System X. It integrates displays, geometry, and light & sound design into a cohesive experience, customizable via My Modes. The BMW HypersonX soundscape, created specifically for the Neue Klasse, introduces new driving sounds, sound effects, and sound signals.

The new design's elegantly minimalist seats offer excellent comfort on long journeys, a sporty character, and a wide range of adjustments. The steering wheel and center console, located between the driver's and front passenger's seats, have also been redesigned, featuring storage areas and control elements. The rear seat bench provides a single, sofa-like seat surface.

Carefully arranged interior themes give each equipment package a unique and distinct character. The materials and color schemes, inspired by modern interior design and advanced Neue Klasse technology, are harmoniously coordinated to enhance the exceptional comfort inside the new BMW iX3. A variety of colors allows for a perfect match between interior tones and exterior paint finishes. Besides the standard Contemporary interior design in Veganza, customers can choose from two other options: the black BMW M interior in Veganza and M PerformTex, and the BMW Individual option featuring a high-quality Merino leather/M PerformTex combination in Black Bicolour or Adelaide Grey.

The new BMW iX3 comes standard with the M Sport package in Singapore, boosting its dynamic appearance with Black high-gloss exterior features, Multifunctional seats, and a Sports steering wheel. The BMW Iconic Glow exterior package offers an impressive sound and light sequence with Relaxed, Balanced, and Excited styles. The welcome sequence starts as soon as the driver approaches the vehicle, and when seated, an animated greeting begins on the BMW Panoramic Vision and Central Display, smoothly transitioning from the driver's side to the front passenger side.

BMW Panoramic iDrive: ultimate driver focus, BMW-style.

The new BMW iX3 is the first production model to feature BMW Panoramic iDrive, redefining the user experience and enhancing Sheer Driving Pleasure. By balancing digital functions and physical elements, BMW Panoramic iDrive elevates intuitive operation to a new level of driver focus, adhering to BMW's "hands on the wheel, eyes on the road" principle.

The system is based on decades of experience and a user-centric design approach, incorporating feedback from individual customers, data from over 10 million connected vehicles, and usability studies with more than 3,000 customers. Physical controls are available for functions like windscreen wipers, turn signal indicators, exterior mirrors, volume control, gear selector, parking brake, hazard warning lights, rear window heating, and defrost function. Other functions have been optimized for touch and voice command or via the multifunction steering wheel.

The BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant has been significantly upgraded, now featuring two new voices, a new appearance for the BMW Panoramic Vision, and additional driver assistance through proactive suggestions and customizable routines. Large Language Model (LLM) technology enables even more intuitive voice interaction.

BMW Panoramic iDrive is supported by the newly developed BMW Operating System X, offering extensive personalization options via the BMW ID, intelligent driver assistance, a variety of digital functions, extensive connectivity through the My BMW App, and excellent future-proofing with BMW Software Updates.

The standard navigation system, BMW Maps, includes an upgrade for charging-optimized route guidance and intelligently coordinated information presentation on the BMW Panoramic Vision, Central Display, and 3D Head-Up Display. The BMW Digital Key Plus can be set up on smartphones and smartwatches from all leading manufacturers. BMW Operating System X provides a wide range of entertainment options on the road and during charging stops, including music streaming apps like Spotify, in-car gaming with AirConsole, and a video-streaming app offering Disney+, YouTube, and other on-demand and live video platforms. The Zoom App for video calls is also available.

Sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology: higher efficiency, more range, faster charging.

The sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology developed for the Neue Klasse includes highly efficient electric motors, new high-voltage batteries with cylindrical cells, and 800V technology. The new BMW iX3 50 xDrive is powered by two electric motors, generating a combined output of 345 kW/469 hp and 645 Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 210 km/h. Its electric all-wheel-drive setup features an upgraded electrically excited synchronous motor (EESM) with high efficiency at the rear axle and a new asynchronous motor (ASM) with a compact design at the front axle. The combination of EESM and ASM showcases BMW Group's commitment to technological neutrality in electric mobility. The drive technology for the Neue Klasse reduces energy losses by 40% compared to the fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology and weight by 10%.

The high-voltage battery can charge from 10% to 80% capacity in 21 minutes. Thanks to the battery management technology with an integrated switching matrix developed in-house by BMW Group, the new BMW iX3 can also charge from 400V DC stations. Battery preparation upgrades further reduce charging times. The new BMW iX3 50 xDrive can charge on alternating current (AC) at 22 kW as standard.

Enhancing driving pleasure, comfort, and versatility through equipment and individualization.

The new BMW iX3 will be offered with one solid and eight metallic paint options at launch. Customers can choose from an exclusive collection of new light-alloy wheels (20-, 21-, and 22-inch) as an alternative to the standard 21-inch M aerodynamic wheels. This selection includes BMW M and BMW Individual light-alloy wheels, some featuring aerodynamically and weight-optimized Air Performance specifications.

Customers can personalize the cabin design to match their style with the Contemporary (standard), M Sport, and BMW Individual interior design themes. The driver's seat and front passenger seat come with standard electric adjustment. Multifunction seats with massage features and a sports steering wheel are standard, while M Sport seats and an M Sport steering wheel are available as options.

The standard features for the new BMW iX3 50 xDrive include three-zone automatic climate control, Comfort Access, automatic tailgate operation, an extended exterior mirror package, telephony with wireless charging, adaptive headlights with intelligent light control, the BMW Iconic Glow package with illuminated BMW kidneys, a Harman Kardon HiFi system with 13 speakers, and a large panoramic sunroof with climate comfort glazing that offers unique solar energy filtering and 100-percent UV protection.
