Audemars Piguet • Royal Oak Offshore Diver

Swiss Haute Horlogerie manufacturer Audemars Piguet has introduced three new versions of the 42 mm Royal Oak Offshore Diver, initially launched in 2021. These sporty timepieces combine playful design with horological expertise, celebrating creative diversity through fresh colors and modern materials.

Driven by the self-winding Calibre 4308, these models blend strength and performance. With a water resistance of up to 300 meters, they are crafted to accompany every adventure, both on land and underwater. Each watch features a 42 mm stainless steel case and two black ceramic crowns, distinguished by vibrant accents on the dial and the interchangeable rubber strap.

Two models feature a black dial with a Méga Tapisserie pattern, highlighted by a luminescent 0–15-minute zone in pink or turquoise, matching the numerals on the inner bezel. The 18-carat gold hands and hour markers are coated with luminescent material for excellent visibility, even in deep water. The pink-accented model is paired with a white strap, while the turquoise version comes with a matching strap. The third variant showcases a deep teal Méga Tapisserie dial, contrasted by luminescent hands and hour markers in 18-carat pink gold and a white luminescent 0–15-minute zone on the diving scale. Pink gold touches on the crown and the interchangeable rubber strap complement the dial, enhancing the color theme. All three models feature a date window at 3 o’clock.

The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Diver is a luxury dive watch that combines genuine 300m water resistance, an internal rotating bezel, and AP’s signature bold design language, unmatched by most brands. Its strength lies in its tool watch essence, yet it offers high-end finishing, collector appeal, and a distinct wrist presence which is what we truly like..

The current Royal Oak Offshore Diver is a 42mm stainless steel watch powered by a self-winding Calibre 4308, with a 60-hour power reserve and 300m water resistance. It features two screw-down crowns: one for setting the time and another for operating the internal rotating dive bezel, allowing them to maintain the iconic Royal Oak silhouette instead of using a traditional external bezel. It also provides the model with sporty straps suitable for its underwater purpose.

Its greatest advantage is its unique appearance, unlike any other dive watch. The octagonal Royal Oak architecture, “Méga Tapisserie” dial texture, and superior finishing give it a more distinctive and luxurious character than most competitors. Simultaneously, it is designed to be truly capable underwater, with ISO 6425 compliance and 300m resistance for actual diving use. Compared to many other brands, it offers a rare combination of design identity, technical credibility, and prestige. While Rolex, Omega, Tudor, and others often focus on practicality or value, the Offshore Diver emphasizes making the dive watch a high-luxury object without sacrificing essential functionality. The internal bezel also provides a cleaner, more architectural appearance than the typical external-bezel dive watch design.

The Offshore Diver excels because it addresses a challenging issue: making a dive watch feel exciting, premium, and instantly recognizable while remaining truly functional. This combination sets it apart from many other brands’ divers, which may be more practical but rarely as desirable as a design object.

A blend of advanced technology and traditional craftsmanship, these new Royal Oak Offshore Diver editions embody Audemars Piguet’s dedication to exploring new design paths and evolving the codes of the sports watch.
