Singapore Gallery Month 2026 Welcomes Art Enthusiasts to Start or Enhance Their Collecting Journey

The Art Galleries Association Singapore (AGAS) is excited to announce the return of Singapore Gallery Month (SGM) 2026, taking place from 15 August to 13 September 2026. This event will include over 100 exhibitions, talks, tours, workshops, and experiences aimed at collectors across the island.

While many enjoy attending exhibitions, transitioning to collecting can feel intimidating. This year's SGM seeks to close that gap, offering opportunities for individuals at every stage of their collecting journey—from those new to the art world to seasoned collectors seeking fresh perspectives and connections.

With a month-long program presented by AGAS member galleries and partners, visitors can discover new artworks, engage directly with artists and gallerists, learn from experienced collectors, and gain a deeper understanding of living with and collecting art.

Discover: Exploring New Artists and Ideas

During SGM 2026, galleries throughout Singapore will present exhibitions featuring local, regional, and international artists working in various media and perspectives. In addition to the exhibitions, visitors can attend artist talks and walkthroughs led by curators, artists, and gallerists, providing deeper insight into the context and creative processes behind the artworks on display.

Selected exhibition highlights include:

FOST Gallery presents The Lie of the Land from 1 Aug – 12 Sep, an annual group show of Singaporean artists examining the current state of affairs—both literally and metaphorically—held in conjunction with National Day

Prestige Gallery presents Cleanse: Asia Pacific Now from 15 Aug – 27 Sep, a group show exploring cleansing as a ritual, psychological condition, and cultural form through the works of regional artists

The Private Museum presents Shadows, Signals, and the Line: Abstract Expressionism in Singapore from 29 May – 23 Aug, which explores the development of abstraction in Singapore through the works of 16 local artists

ShanghART presents Taiki Sakpisit: 13 Nightmares from 25 Jul – 27 Sep, where the Thai artist transforms the gallery into a labyrinth of moving images, photographs, sound, and spectral presences

Sundaram Tagore Gallery presents Neha Vedpathak: Land, Body, Spirit from 15 Aug – 17 Oct, spotlighting the Indian-born, Detroit-based artist who creates sculptural installations and wall reliefs made from Japanese paper

Stella Chang, Planning & Development Chair of AGAS and Gallery Director of Richard Koh Fine Art, states: "One of the most rewarding aspects of collecting is discovering artists whose work resonates with you personally. Galleries play a crucial role in creating those moments of connection, whether through exhibitions, conversations, or encounters with artists. Singapore Gallery Month brings these experiences together and makes them accessible to a wider audience."

Connect: Meeting the People Behind the Art

For many collectors, the stories behind artworks are as meaningful as the works themselves, and galleries provide a space to experience them. This year's SGM program emphasizes creating opportunities for visitors to engage directly with the people who shape Singapore's art ecosystem. Through artist talks, studio visits, precinct tours, workshops, and a “speed dating” event between collectors and artists, participants will gain rare access to personal stories and hands-on experiences that bring artworks to life.

Selected program highlights include:

Gillman Gatherings returns on 15 Aug to mark the official start of SGM, as participating galleries around the art enclave host a full day of exhibition openings, talks, and other events for the whole family

Art After Hours, co-presented by AGAS and UOB on 29 Aug, will see galleries at Tanjong Pagar Distripark host a full day of talks, tours, and performances; interactive exhibits and workshops at UOB Artbeat; and extended opening hours at the Singapore Art Museum.

Creators & Connoisseurs: A Speed Dating Soirée will be held at Gajah Gallery on 5 Sep. This lively event brings together emerging and established artists for a series of rapid-fire conversations with collectors

Curated Encounters, a series of guided precinct tours led by artist and curator Daniel Chong, will take place on select weekend dates between 22 Aug – 5 Sep, taking visitors around galleries in areas including Bras Basah and Orchard Road

● Several galleries will run interactive experiences during the SGM period, including an epoxy clay workshop and chicken illustration workshop by I.F. Gallery; a found poetry and collage workshop by LOY Art Gallery; and an immersive field recording workshop and neighborhood sound walk by Sullivan+Strumpf

These intimate experiences offer audiences a deeper understanding of artistic practices while fostering meaningful connections between artists, galleries, collectors, and the public.

Ho Sou Ping, Secretary of AGAS and Founder of artcommune gallery, states: "Collecting typically begins with a conversation rather than a purchase. This year, Singapore Gallery Month goes beyond just discovering galleries to focusing on developing collectors. It offers more opportunities than ever to visit private collections, engage directly with artists, ask questions to art advisors, and build confidence in starting a collection. By making collecting more accessible, we are fostering a stronger community that plays a vital role in supporting artists and ensuring the continued growth of Singapore's arts ecosystem."

Enhancing Singapore’s Network of Art Enthusiasts and Collectors

As Singapore's gallery scene evolves, AGAS emphasizes the importance of cultivating new audiences and collectors to support artists and maintain a dynamic visual arts environment.

Through exhibitions, dialogues, and shared experiences, SGM seeks to show that collecting is not merely about ownership, but about forming meaningful connections with art and its creators.

Audrey Yeo, President of AGAS and Founder of Yeo Workshop, remarks: "Commercial galleries are far more than just places to purchase art. They are venues where artists develop their careers, ideas are shared, communities come together, and culture is showcased. Through exhibitions, performances, workshops, studio visits, and discussions, galleries invite everyone to engage in Singapore's creative life. Singapore Gallery Month honors this role while encouraging more people to explore the benefits of collecting. Collecting is not limited to experts – it is one of the most direct ways individuals can support artists, preserve our cultural heritage, and actively participate in shaping Singapore's artistic future."
