MIKIMOTO Celebrates the First Anniversary of its Orchard Flagship Boutique
16 May 2016, Singapore – MIKIMOTO, the foremost producer of the finest cultured pearls, celebrated the first anniversary of its Orchard flagship boutique with an exclusive ocean-themed event held at ION Sky last Friday, 6 May 2016. A range of exclusive high jewellery was specially flown in and displayed at the event to celebrate the success of the boutique in the past year.
In addition to commemorating the boutique’s first milestone, the event was also held in celebration of women who are confident and successful both in their career and lives – qualities found in the many guests who were in presence that evening.
Kicking off the programme, Mr. Toshiyuki Kumai, Managing Director of MIKIMOTO (Asia Pacific) gave a welcome address and greeted MIKIMOTO guests alongside counterparts, Mr. Yasuhiko Hashimoto, Director & Senior Vice President of Sales Division & Marketing Group, who flew in from Japan for the occasion, Mr. Tomotsugu Ito, Managing Director of MIKIMOTO Singapore and Mr. Chris Chong, Chief Executive Officer of ION Orchard.
At the evening programme hosted by emcee, Max Loong, guests were given an opportunity to appreciate the intricate MIKIMOTO design of the high jewellery pieces up close on models walking the fashion show. Among the pieces were the Necklace with Golden South Sea Pearls and Diamonds (S$627,000), Akoya Pearl and Jade Tassel (S$102,000) and Pink Sapphire and Akoya Pearl Necklace (S$169,000) – all one of a kind pieces.
The Pearl Bar
As part of the first anniversary programme, MIKIMOTO also presented The Pearl Bar – an interactive showcase that took centre stage at the event. Specially designed to enhance user experience, The Pearl Bar held information about the history of MIKIMOTO and MIKIMOTO pearls, alongside key information on seven key high jewellery necklaces on display, all prompted by a collection of specially made RFID bookmarks and pearl domes.
MIKIMOTO x Janice Wong Edible Art Installation
Recognising Chef-Artist Janice Wong’s embodiment of a well-respected woman who is successful in her field, the international jeweller collaborated with her to create ‘Treasure of The Sea’, an edible art installation that takes inspiration from the natural beauty of the waters surrounding the MIKIMOTO Island in Japan, its underwater colours, as well as the perfection in the craft of MIKIMOTO pearls.
Among those present to grace the occasion were society and notable personalities including Dolly and Bernard Cheong, Dato Sri Christopher Lim, Tjin Lee, Gilbert Cheah, Rosalynn Tan, Wendy Jacobs and Loh May-Han.
