Today, marks the first anniversary of the world’s first inaugural Dog Cruise. This unique event onboard a traditionally rigged tall ship, was the first time a luxury yacht allowed dogs onboard to not only dine with their pawrents; but to also have their own gourmet meals served at their table. “The experience has been enhanced over the last year to be more relaxed and adapt to the latest regulations. With up to 30 dogs on each sailing, our experienced crew and partners are taking Dog Cruise to a whole new level.” said Sylvia Lee, Partnership Manager of Dog Cruise.
Peter Pela, CEO, and owner of Tall Ship Adventures said: “The collapse of the tourism industry had a major toll on our business, so we had to think outside of the box on how to attract new clientele. And then, shortly after launching Dog Cruise, we were hit by two waves of F&B closures over a four-month period due to heightened alert. Yes, it true, we were all walking around with our tails between our legs! It’s taken an enormous effort; but we are finally perking up and we are pleased to see more hotels and restaurants recently following suit by also focusing on dogs. We’ve seen tremendous support from the dog community here with guests returning to sail and dine with us; up to five times since we first started 12 months ago. The dog community has sent us a clear sign that our furkids love the product and we are fulfilling an important need to dine out as a complete family.”
The entire dining experience for human guests on the dinner cruise has also been upgraded to a new standard 5-course dining menu with an optional 7-course degustation menu available. The guest of honor for the event will have to be the furkids! With a carefully prepared premium menu for the furkids prepared by our Partner, PetCubes, “We have put together a nutritiously balanced meal just for the furkids which we know that they will enjoy.” Ms. Erica Kay from PetCubes shared. After the main course the furkid will enjoy a special dessert sponsored by our pet gourmet ice-cream partner Twice Young. “We are thrilled to present our unique Pawlato™ to all our furkids onboard! In a momentous event, today, the Royal Albatross Asia’s only luxury tall ship will be setting sail on it’s very first dog dining experience in the seas; the dog cruise. A special mention for the chefs of both dogs and humans. A job well done! The 7-course gourmet meals were executed perfectly for a boat full of guests. Let's start with the fine dining menu for our furry friends.
Dessert was interesting. Twice Young served up a lovely Pawlato.
This was followed by a special surprise by BossiPaws, when they customised a cake for every dog, shaping them in their image.
For the humans, the food was a delectable! Every single dish was noteworthy. We were especially impressed with the Crispy Duck Confit. Having spoken to frequent pawrents and guests, we realised the secret to the astounding consistency of the food; highly skilled culinary team and a full-fledged kitchen onboard the Royal Albatross.
All in all, it was an excellent celebration and a well-deserved one for the team.
