Mondrian Singapore Duxton houses 302 guestrooms (inclusive of 5 shophouse suites), a cinematic rooftop pool and refined restaurants and aesthetic-pleasing bars. True to the Mondrian brand, the hotel showcased the rich heritage omnipresent in the Duxton area, and its new presence truly enlightens and augments the vibrancy of this historical precinct, filling up the intersectional cross-sectional area at Craig Road to the very tip for Duxton Hill, as a mighty welcome zone.

The architect and designers (DP Architects and Studio Carter) were precise in drawing inspiration from the heritage conservation area’s traditional architecture and also juxtaposed modern yet immersive installations with a bevy of contemporary collection of local and international artwork, such as abstract British artist Ian Davenport and local experimental illustrator Andre Wee, all over the spaces within Mondrian. Thus, the Mondrian Singapore Duxton afforded guests with a unique and distinct feel and hotel experience in Singapore.

“I want the Mondrian to be the beating heart of this extraordinary city, a catalyst to forge connections with like-minded people, innovators and the wild at heart,” said Robert C Hauck, the general manager of Mondrian Singapore Duxton, who delighted us with his amazing hospitality when we met him at the lobby. The hotel employs a Community Manager of-sorts, and the key role is to bridge the gap between the hotel’s cultural offerings, guests and the world outside the hotel, along with the Duxton and Chinatown community, so this inclusive social compact strategy is truly one of uniqueness for the Mondrian strategy and branding!

Refined Dining comes alive at this latest modern Italian dining place by Dario Cecchini. We went to Bottega di Carna at this newly commissioned eloquent modern hotel right in the heart of Duxton, bringing excitement and life to this vicinity - the Mondrian Singapore Duxton - it is a vibrant modern Italian eatery, the brainchild of Dario Cecchini, who is also known as “The Greatest Butcher in The World.” The Italian butcher from Tuscany has appeared on shows such as Chef’s Table and the concept of Bottega Di Carna is based on a platform that serves the highest quality of crudos and charcuterie, handmade pasta, and wood fire steaks.

An entire array of playful yet delightful gastronomic Italian classics were showcased upon us with elements of Dario’s rebellious spin in an awesome culinary format. Butcher Dario Cecchini commands presence over this beautiful flagship dining experience, Bottega di Carna, a truly modern and eclectic Italian eatery that exudes vibes and touches of Tuscany when we were dining in-place; we were met by Executive Chef Alastair Clayton who did wonders to the food we tasted along with Chef de Cuisine Kenny Huang and the combination of their culinary finesse along with their teams, including F&B Director, Justin, added service, finesse and style to the entire experience; prime cuts of the meats were clearly showcased and driven to immense perfection! Allegrini "stylo milo"!

We sampled the SEABASS CRUDO consisting of grilled zucchini, lemon & marioram oil - so wonderful as I have not tasted anything like this before; the DARIO'S SIGNATURE STEAK TARTARE was amazing with a neat selection of smoked paprika, olive oil and lemon and the CARPACCIO DI CULO with seiso verde was just amazing!

The lovely Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label Champagne was a trustworthy companion that brought out finesse when paired with this bevy of starters combination. For the main course, we chose the BRANZINO FILET comprising grilled artichoke & salsa verde, exquisitely done and also the STOCKYARD RIBEYE 280Gm .. Australian Black Angus.. immaculate! We were given a choice of special steak knives, superbly designed for the classique Bottega di Carna steak experience, and we knew it would exact our expectations!

We couldn’t leave without dessert so we were given a taste of the VALRHONA CHOCOLATE FONDANT - a selezzione of cocoa nib tuile and homemade vanilla ice cream and also the TIRAMISU which is served at the table for two pax, love it!

Mondrian is all-about the experience. It is an absolute must-see destination for locals, tourists and globe-trotters for its amazing design ideas and progressive management skills. It is an enclave of exciting home-based cultural scenes, innovation and creativity, and its array of lively framework allows one to enjoy the true culture and vibracy of the city.
