- ProWine Singapore 2026 • FHA
ProWine Singapore 2026 wrapped up a successful four-day event at Singapore Expo, featuring over 200 exhibitors from 24 countries and regions, along with trade visitors from Singapore and the surrounding area. Held in conjunction with Food & Hospitality Asia 2026 (FHA), the exhibition reaffirmed its status as Southeast Asia’s premier trade platform for wines and spirits, linking global producers with importers, distributors, retailers, and hospitality professionals. The wide array of exhibitors and countries showcased highlighted Singapore's importance as a gateway market for Southeast Asia. National groups and producers from Europe, Asia, and the Americas were joined by a diverse selection of premium wine estates, Champagne houses, craft spirits producers, and innovators in no- and low-alcohol beverages. A Gateway to New Producers and Emerging Brands Trade visitors also emphasized the event's significance as a discovery platform for emerging brands. “What draws me to ProWine each time is the assembly of not just brands, but talented and passionate representatives present,” said Joma Riviera, Bar Manager of Tamba. “There are always products our bars would genuinely be interested in, and this year’s highlight for me was Philippines’ ARC Gin, which I find very tasty and a beautiful representation of its home country.” A key feature encouraging exploration was this year’s Discovery Bar led by Andrew Pang. Designed as an accessible entry point to new producers, it showcased a rotating selection across categories, attracting strong interest from buyers and hospitality professionals who participated in guided tastings throughout the day. Industry Exchanges & Insights The masterclass program once again proved to be a major attraction, with consistent full attendance at sessions led by top industry professionals and educators. Covering a wide range of topics, highlights included: ● Tasting Wines Like a Sommelier by Andreas Rosendal MS DipWSET, Head of Wine Operations at 67 Pall Mall Singapore, who broke down wine assessment through a guided blind tasting to enhance evaluation and articulation. ● Indonesia’s Emerging Craft Wine and Whisky Scene by Yudhi Maulana, Sommelier and WSET Level 2 Wine & Spirits, who explored the rise of Indonesia’s key craft categories. ● The Impact of Glassware on Wine and Sake by Danny Leong, Master Saké Sommelier and Sensory Science Consultant, who examined how glassware influences aroma and perception. ● Asian Whisky Tasting by Lam Chi Mun, Spirits Industry Consultant in Asia and Certified WSET Spirits Educator, who led a guided tasting exploring the diversity of Asian whisky and its rapid growth as a category. The Industry Networking Session, moderated by Wine & Spirit Journalist, Nimmi Malhotra, was another key feature of the program. Focusing on Southeast Asia’s evolving drinks landscape, the panel highlighted key trends such as a growing preference for authenticity, sustainability, and wines from emerging heritage regions, reflecting a shift toward more story-led and differentiated selections. Adding to the show’s international prestige was the presence of Charlotte Weihl, Germany’s Wine Queen, whose attendance underscored the country’s growing relevance in wine discussions across Asia. Dry Riesling, Spätburgunder, and wines from smaller German regions drew strong interest from trade buyers seeking fresher Old World narratives and more food-friendly styles suited to the region’s dining culture. Champagne Showcase and Star Wine List Awards The Champagne Lounge was another standout feature, making its Singapore debut after originating from ProWine Düsseldorf. Bringing together five new-to-region Champagne houses including Champagne Cattier and Champagne Harlin Père et Fils, the space hosted guided tastings led by National Sommelier Champion, Yeo Xi Yang, alongside tasting booths staffed by brand representatives for deeper explorations. Speaking on the format, François Colas of Champagne Cattier said, “The Champagne Lounge in Düsseldorf was a successful initiative, which encouraged us to return. Having a recognized industry figure such as Yeo Xi Yang lead the initiative was vital, as he made Champagne appreciation more approachable and helped attendees understand what makes each brand distinct.” Also held during the tradeshow, the Star Wine List of the Year Southeast Asia Awards recognized outstanding wine programs from across the region, with Convivial Singapore, led by Yeo Xi Yang, earning the honors for the second time. Speaking on the recognition, Yeo Xi Yang said, “This means a great deal. To be recognized by true wine professionals who understand what goes into building a great wine list, and to be in the same conversation as the other winners as a small, focused establishment like ours, is incredibly rewarding. I couldn’t be more grateful.” We truly enjoyed Xi Yang's contribution to the champagne movement and truly bodes well for Singapore to have an authority like him to showcase the classique champagne movement. Emerging Categories: Agave and No- & Low-Alcohol Growing interest in agave spirits and no- and low-alcohol beverages was also observed across the show floor, reflected in exhibitor participation and feedback from vendors. “Tequila and mezcal are more than spirits; they are expressions of Mexico’s land, biodiversity, and centuries of artisanal tradition,” said Agustín García-López Loaeza, Ambassador of Mexico and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps. “Platforms like ProWine help connect that heritage with Southeast Asia, where Singapore plays a key role as a gateway for growing demand for premium, authentic agave spirits.” “What we’re seeing is a clear intent to invest in Southeast Asia, with ProWine Singapore as a platform for brands to test demand and establish presence in the region,” said Beattrice Ho, Project Director for ProWine Singapore at Messe Düsseldorf Asia. “We are encouraged by the strong engagement and continued confidence from exhibitors and trade visitors at ProWine Singapore 2026, and will continue to build on this interest to create more opportunities in future editions.” Further details on visitor breakdown will be published in the forthcoming Post Show Report. The next edition of ProWine Singapore will return in 2028 at Singapore Expo, once again held alongside Food & Hospitality Asia.
- Singapore T100 Triathlon 2026
Hayden Wilde triumphed in the Singapore T100 Triathlon with a commanding performance, kicking off his T100 season in ideal fashion and securing consecutive victories in the Lion City. Wilde appeared unbeatable, achieving the largest winning margin in men's T100 history by 6 minutes and 21 seconds over Great Britain's Sam Dickinson in second place and Germany's Mika Noodt in third. In doing so, Wilde mirrored British F1 driver Lewis Hamilton, who achieved back-to-back Singapore wins in 2018 and 2019. Could he match German driver Sebastian Vettel and become a three-time Singapore winner? Vettel claimed victories here in 2011, 2012, and 2013. During race week, Wilde spoke about 'getting back to business' as the defending T100 champion. He certainly achieved that, and Wilde's presence is evidently growing, leaving other athletes searching for solutions. Sam Dickinson, who finished in second place, delivered an impressive performance to surpass his previous best T100 result of third place, achieved during his debut on the French Riviera last year. Mika Noodt secured his seventh T100 podium and his sixth consecutive podium finish in T100 races, showcasing a composed performance to remain competitive all day despite the sweltering conditions. The next event in the T100 Race To Qatar for the men is the San Francisco T100 on 6 June, where the cooler temperatures will greet competitors diving into San Francisco Bay near the Golden Gate Bridge. Meanwhile, the women will return to action at the Spain T100 on 23 May, which will be held in Pamplona-Navarra for the first time this year. Key Quotes Winner: Hayden Wilde (NZL) “I think it was harder this year than last year - and I just made sure I just raced my race out there today. I think we started a bit earlier, so we were in the heat for a lot longer, and I think we only really got cloud cover until probably halfway through the run. So it was super hot out there, and power was real low today, and obviously run speed was bit lower. I just tried to keep my numbers and made sure I was just doing my own race up there.” Second: Sam Dickinson (GBR) “I’m delighted to be fair. It's not bad, is it? Decent, decent race. I think Vicky Holland [T100 commentator whose husband Rhys Davey is Sam’s coach] on comms must be my lucky charm, to be honest. I managed to stay calm and stay cool and am super pleased to back up the hard work in the first race of the season. This is a good start.” Third: Mika Noodt (GER) “I finally held it together on the run. It's the first time I'd say that I really did my own race. On the bike, I just stick to my own power from the first lap. Which was actually very hard. I mean, it's so easy to go out hard. It's just way more fun also, especially being the first race of the season, you just wanna hammer it. But yeah, I really held back, which kinda felt wrong, but in the end it was still ultimately the right decision. So yeah, I’m very happy with it.” In total, more than 7,000 amateur athletes are expected to take part over the weekend and organisers have confirmed the date for next year as 10-11 April, 2027, with places already on sale here: https://t100triathlon.com/singapore/participate/ How the 2026 T100 Triathlon World Tour works: ● Athletes score 35 points for first place to 1 pt for 20th place at each of the races; 2nd - 29 points; and 3rd - 26 points ● The Qatar T100 Triathlon World Championship Final has increased points to up the ante (55 pts down to 4 pts) ● Each athlete’s best three T100 race scores plus the Qatar T100 Triathlon World Championship Final will count towards the women’s and men’s T100 World Championship titles ● $275,000 USD prize fund at each T100, totalling $2,750,000 across the nine races (1st place – $50,000k; 2nd – $40,000; 3rd – $30,000 at each race) ● The series winners following the Qatar T100 Triathlon World Championship Final will be crowned T100 Triathlon World Champion and collect $100,000 USD from an additional total prize pool of $1,450,000 (2nd - $80,000; 3rd - 75,000) ● Between the T100 race prize fund and T100 Triathlon World Tour pool, the series provides $4,200,000 in athlete compensation, and is distributed in a way that not only rewards the winners, but also recognises the significant achievement of racing at this level For more details, visit https://t100triathlon.com/pro-racing/

- Wa-En Wagyu Yakiniku Singapore • Gastronomic Review
Recommended in the Michelin guide in 2016 and 2017, Wa-En Wagyu Yakiniku flagship restaurant has been operating in Hong Kong for more than 10 years. Specialising in premium and delicate A4 and A5 Wagyu from Miyazaki, Japan, these cuts are perfect for yakiniku. Wa-En’s first outlet opening in Singapore is located at the heart of Jewel Changi Airport, positioning its menu to focus on premium Japanese Yakiniku together with an exquisite Wa-En bar experience. The interior and architecture of Wa-En use delicate Japanese wood tones to feature a minimalist and elegant composition. The dining space is designed for comfort and privacy with booth seats and private rooms. The Yakiniku grill, imported from Japan, uses a furnace structure with net surface and downdraft exhaust, to avoid a heavy cooking smell. Away from the grill, you can dine or have cocktails at the Wa-En Bar, flawlessly designed to boast an assortment of wines, best paired with Yakiniku meats and Japanese whiskeys, sakes and artfully crafted cocktails using Miyazaki fats infused in whiskey. The bar also recommends non-Yakiniku dishes with delectable Japanese small plates to pair with drinks. We dropped by one evening and started with some pre-dinner drinks at the bar. We had a Suntory Premium Malts beer and a Nietschke Shiraz from Barossa Valley. The restaurant offers a superb view of the HSBC Rain Vortex, which is the world's tallest indoor waterfall. After drinks, we were ushered to our table at the main dining area and we then ordered the set menu for 2 pax. We were served the Miyazaki Wagyu Beef Tartare, Tofu Salad and assorted Kimchi. Next the crew served us the Yakiniku Platter, consisting of Premium Miyazaki Wagyu Karubi, Chuck Roll, Australian Wagyu, Hokkaido Pork Belly, Chicken Thigh and Fresh Lettuce. Miyazaki Wagyu is a premium, award-winning Japanese beef (A4/A5 grade) from Miyazaki Prefecture, renowned for its intense, delicate marbling and low melting point, resulting in a buttery, "melt-in-your-mouth" texture. As a multi-time Wagyu Olympics winner, it is considered some of the best, most luxurious beef in the world. We grilled the Wagyu slices for around 10-15 seconds each side to medium rare and paired with the different condiments which elevated the flavours and texture. Overall Verdict: Rosette Media rating: 9.1/10 The price is higher than other mass-market Yakiniku restaurants, but considering the quality and the freshness of the Miyazaki Wagyu, we felt it was excellent value for money. The smokeless grill concept was indeed true to its claim as we left the restaurant without any smell of food on our clothes.
