  • Bentley - Flying Spur

Bentley has launched its first four-door supercar – the new Flying Spur, now in its fourth generation after almost two decades of defining the ultimate luxury performance sedan. Launched initially with the performance-focused Speed, the new Flying Spur  is built around Bentley’s new Ultra Performance Hybrid, endowing it with an extraordinary breadth of capabilities. At one extreme, it’s capable of serene, silent progress in pure EV mode for up to 47 miles (76 km), ideal for Zero Emission Zones or city travel, and with CO2 emissions 90% lower than the  outgoing Flying Spur Speed. When more spirited driving is desired, the combined 782 PS of Bentley V8 – 147PS up on the outgoing car - and e-motor delivers sensational performance, passing the 0-60 mph benchmark in just 3.3 seconds (0-100 km/h in 3.5 secs) – half a second quicker than its predecessor. Few vehicles on the planet can boast such a spread of ability; none do so with the refinement, poise or luxury as the new Flying Spur, justifying Bentley’s claim that this is its first four-door supercar.  While the exterior design largely retains the familiar, muscular yet elegant design of the third-generation Flying Spur launched in 2019, it’s beneath the skin of the car where the real changes take place – with the all-new powertrain matched with an also-new electrical architecture that brings the most modern suite of automotive technology fitted to any true luxury sedan. Interior updates improve on the already exquisite Flying Spur cabin with new stitch options, 3D diamond hide extended to doors and pillars, and further wellness features including the intelligent air ionisation and option of automatic postural adjustment on all four seats means even more potential for limitless personalisation. Meanwhile the introduction of the My Bentley App Studio brings an array of useful applications straight to the driver’s finger tips. Higher Performance, Lower Emissions The Flying Spur Speed’s Ultra Performance Hybrid all-wheel drive powertrain combines an advanced 600 PS 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 with a 190 PS electric motor that is neatly integrated within the eight-speed dual clutch transmission. In Sport mode this powertrain deploys a full 782 PS and 1,000 Nm, with the instant torque of the E-motor complementing the charismatic cross-plane beat of the V8. Compared with the previous Speed model, the new Flying Spur Speed delivers higher torque from lower engine speeds, higher peak torque and higher power output throughout the rev range.  System torque is increased by over 11 per cent compared to the outgoing W12-powered Flying Spur Speed, from 900 Nm to 1000 Nm (738 lb ft). System power has also increased by 19 per cent, from 659 PS to 782 PS. This makes the new Flying Spur the most powerful Bentley sedan ever created. The new 600 PS, 800 Nm (590 lb ft) V8 engine – with no traditional vacuum system, and 350 bar fuel injection pressure (raised from 200 bar) provides cleaner combustion and improved emissions. With the e-motor negating turbo lag, twin single-scroll turbochargers have been used – which reduces complexity and allows them to run hotter, minimising emissions. Therefore, no cylinder deactivation hardware is required, as the engine can be switched off entirely when using the electric motor. In pure EV mode, the E-motor provides 190 PS and 450 Nm of torque, more than enough to keep up with the traffic in most situations, while the 25.9 kWh battery offers up to 47 miles (76 km) of usable electric-only range (on the EU drive cycle). Together, the V8 and E-motor provide the new Flying Spur with a total range of 515 miles (829 km).  Full electric mode can be deployed at speeds of up to 87 mph / 140 km/h, with throttle applications of up to 75 per cent. The battery can be fully replenished in as little as 2¾ hours thanks to significant improvements in charger and battery capacity, with 11 kW peak charging power.     The powertrain system manages the energy flows dependent upon the mode chosen – with pure EV, electric boost, regenerative braking – and, most importantly for this new Flying Spur – a charge mode, where the engine drives the wheels and charges the battery at the same time. The Bentley Performance Active Chassis comes as standard with the Flying Spur Speed. Features of the sophisticated new setup include Bentley Dynamic Ride and All-Wheel Steering, along with an electronically-controlled Limited Slip Differential, while a new generation of ESC control software permits a range of driving styles to be accessed and provides reliable traction in all conditions. With the new car’s rear-biased weight distribution of 48.3 : 51.7, the chassis systems and ESC have a mechanically-optimised platform in which to provide the final refinement. The system uses active torque vectoring front to rear through a centre differential, and precision vectoring across each axle using the brakes. New and advanced twin-valve dampers enable rebound and compression damping to be separately controlled, creating a clear delineation of dynamic capabilities between Comfort, Bentley and Sport modes. The body-control of the previous generation’s Sport mode is maintained, while the ride comfort in Comfort mode is significantly improved.  Expressive and Distinctive Design The performance-oriented character of the new Flying Spur Speed is underscored by the latest design enhancements. Brightware finished in dark tint gives the exterior a sporty, technical feel, while the new Speed-specific grille, front bumper and rear diffuser create a fresh, purposeful look. The Styling Specification aero package is now finished in body colour, though owners can alternatively opt for a carbon fibre finish.  New LED Welcome Lamps housed in the doors project an animated version of the Bentley Wings logo onto the ground whenever the front doors are opened. This new deployment of Bentley’s “light sculpture” technology follows on from its first application in the coachbuilt Batur coupe by Mulliner. A new 22” Ten Swept Spoke wheel is available in two finishes (Grey Painted and Bright Machined, and Black Painted), along with two other 22” designs available in an array of painted, Black Painted, Dark Tint and Pale Brodgar Satin finishes. Inside the spacious cabin, occupants enjoy the latest expression of Bentley’s renowned design and handcraftsmanship, with all-new seat designs that feature 3D diamond quilting and a revised perforation pattern in the seat’s centre section. Tactile Precision 3D diamond hide clothes the door inners and B Pillars. Complementing the exterior dark-tine brightware, the new (and optional) Dark Chrome Specification trim provides a contemporary aesthetic and gives an understated character to the cabin. This applies to door handles, switches, speaker grilles and many other areas around the cabin. New driver instrumentation graphics complete the package of design enhancements, while the acclaimed Bentley Rotating Display with its choice of 12.3” high-definition display, three analogue dials, or an unbroken side of handcrafted veneer continues to be offered as an option. Customers continue to have tens of billions of configuration possibilities to select from – before the infinite realm of possibility provided by Bentley’s bespoke and coachbuilding division, Mulliner. The ability for a customer to specify a totally unique Flying Spur, matched to their tastes and personality, highlights the car’s ability to deliver the power of the possible. A paint range of 101 colours can be expanded to any colour from Bentley’s past, and bespoke paint-matching is also available. For the interior, 22 primary hide colours, 11 secondary shades and four colour splits mean that in the leather alone there are more than 700 colour combinations, before adding contrast stitching, piping or bespoke features. The leathers are joined by eight wood veneer options and a further three technical finishes – which can be utilised as single or dual finishes, and can also be paint matched to any interior hide or exterior paint colours.  A choice of three audio systems is offered in the new Flying Spur. The standard system features 10 speakers and 650 Watts, while a Bang & Olufsen 1,500 W, 16-speaker system with illuminated speaker grilles is aimed at lifestyle-oriented customers. A Naim 2,200 W, 19-speaker system with Active Bass Transducers built into the front seats and eight sound modes is offered for the true audiophile. Laminated acoustic glass is retained for the windscreen and side windows, resulting in a nine-decibel reduction in exterior noise versus non-acoustic glazing.     Convenience, Wellness and Safety  The fourth-generation Flying Spur Speed benefits from the latest iteration of electrical architecture, enabling a significant step forward in infotainment and driver assistance technology. The result is a seamless experience in terms of wellness, driver assistance, infotainment systems and connected car services. For the first time with Flying Spur, the optional Wellness Seating Specification is now available on all four seats. This includes Seat Auto Climate and Postural Adjust, which measures and maintains the perfect body temperature via zoned heating and ventilation, and soothingly and seamlessly varies the pressure on the occupants’ muscles throughout their journey to ensure fatigue is minimised. The environment display (shown in the driver’s instrument panel) supports and enables driving in semi-assisted mode, showing the driver how the car is responding to other vehicles. The vehicle’s understanding of the surrounding environment allows for Intelligent Park Assist – the latest generation self-parking system with speed control. The wellness and comfort of driver and passengers is further enhanced by an air conditioning system that now includes air ionisers, a new particulate matter filter and displays showing air quality outside and inside the vehicle. The system also synchronises with the car’s satellite navigation, knowing when it might be necessary to improve cabin air quality (for example by recirculating the cabin air when in a tunnel). Growing up within in the F&B industry, Nixon’s passion for food has always been deeply rooted in his upbringing and wealth of experience that spans across the globe, making him a true ambassador of gastronomy. Trained in European cooking techniques, Nixon felt a need to revisit his Asian roots and looked to expressing it through his food. With the traditional communal style of Asian dining, Nixon aimed to create tasty yet unpretentious dishes that offer flavours that are familiar yet invigorating. A perfect example is his contemporary twist on a classic Singaporean dish like the Roti John which has been a local favourite for years. He modernised the dish by alternating the different fillings within to cater to the evolving tastes of the modern palate. This gave birth to a great lunch option that offers comforting flavours that we are all familiar together with intriguing textures. THE DINELUXE MENU BY ENTREPÔT The menu is inspired by the desire to Inspire, Indulge, and Invest, presented in a reverse order in a Supper Club format. By Invest, they take premium and unique ingredients and transform these components into different variations in their aptly-named supper club starters. •  Homemade Milk Bread  is paired with uncommon crab roe butter- the taste is eloquent and has the right texture and flavouring and with the encased super Mini dried prawn, provided a touch of umami to the composition of this vietnamese butter preparation. • Entrepôt signature Terracotta Tea  is elevated for Dineluxe by incorporating Iron Buddha Tea and a shrimp medallion shaped in the form of a jade - distinctively, an exquisite bite that is simply funnelled to perfect elevation, with a distinct strong tea flavour that doesn't overpower the tastebuds. •  Black Gold Charcoal Grilled Chilean Seabass : Black gold in the form of a black soybean tofu is fried crispy and paired with rice lees velouté and caviar vinaigrette - the tastiness is expanded to a succulent medium with a soft texture interspersed with a nice crispy fried texture; the presentation is a reward and feast for the eyes, and the use of the right ingredients is applauded. By Indulge, they believe that " If you can’t resist it, then best embrace it" •  54 Degree Cherry Valley Duck : Roast duck and cherries are the ultimate indulgence, paired with crispy clay potatoes, finished with a lush madeira and dragon fruit jus - an instant explostion but pleasant impact from the Amarena cherries, not gamey, well structured Duck, a neat crunch to the Clay potatoes and we simply adore the celtuce; it was a sincere combination; love the Amarena bursting on to the well sous-vide duck at 54.4° - excellent control of culinary temperature. Marvelous! By Inspire, nothing beats " rounding the meal with a vice, or not? Is it smoke and mirrors or the perfect evening to pass on the experience?" as their philosophy; we were whiskered away for our next session of a c ocktail and dessert pairing - a vibe of heritage that is inspired “opium memoirs”  - images of yesteryears start to fill the ambience contained within this secret venue termed •  Opium at Chandu : Entremet, Lapsa were the format used and this venue was tucked nicely just around the corner from Entrepôt..  a cosy  cocktail bar with a design drawing inspiration from opium dens and clan associations. All the dishes were copacetic and juxtaposed well - the chef and culinary operations chief Nixon did a great job of sharing his inspirations and creations. • Kelle Energy

KELLE ENERGY LAUNCHES FIRST-IN-SEA ROBOT EV CHARGER • Singapore Founders Discover Innovative BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems) with EV Systems Technology and Develop Solution for Southeast Asia • Reducing EV Charging Infrastructure by 90% and Easing Congestions in Carparks • Reduced Costs and Increased Convenience Will Help More Drivers Make the Switch to Electric Vehicles Kelle Energy is proud to announce the launch of its first robot EV chargers for the Southeast Asia market and their deployment in Malaysia. Pending approvals by Singapore’s authorities, the company has also garnered great interest to deploy their unique technology across carparks in Singapore. According to the Singapore Green Plan, Singapore aims to achieve net zero emissions by 2050. This includes the active push for greener roads in Singapore by encouraging the take up of Electric Vehicles (EV) as compared to Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicles and the deployment of over 60,000 EV charging points nationwide by 2030. Kelle Energy’s robot EV charger is aimed at reducing the need for extensive infrastructure for EV charging points, increase charging convenience for drivers and is able to provide an eco-friendly EV charging experience from 100% renewable energy sources that also reduces demand on the power grid. The company hopes this will encourage more drivers to swop to EVs faster, and contribute to sustainable living for the long haul. From January to May 2024, EVs make up about 30% of all new car sales2 in Singapore, with 7,100 chargers already installed island-wide. Kelle Energy’s Robot Charging Solution: Ahead of its Time Kelle Energy’s robot EV chargers adopt innovative and revolutionary technology ahead of the EV market. Kelle Energy’s direct charger-to-car innovation is a world’s first with the ability to bypass traditional charging stations, and yet still provide safe high-speed, high-power charging. Due to the high voltage required for EV charging, most of the current technology requires charging stations to be directly plugged into the power grid. Most EVs will accept alternating current (AC) charging and convert this energy into Direct Current (DC) in the onboard battery. AC charging is typically slower with power levels of between 2 to 22kW, whereas DC charging is able to provide 50-100kW of charging. With Kelle Energy’s fast yet safe DC60 (Direct Current) rapid charging capabilities, charging times are drastically reduced leading to better efficiency, cost and convenience for drivers. In addition, by using intelligent charging control with remote operation and management, drivers are given full control over their charging needs. Drivers simply park at any available lot in the carpark, enter their location into their mobile app to activate an EV robot. The robot will search for their car and stop in front of the car. The driver will then connect the robot charger to the car for charging and when the car is charged as requested, the robot is free to move on to another vehicle, or back to its docking station for recharging. Easing Strain on the Power Grid with 100% Renewable Energy Off-Grid EV Charging Kelle Energy robots use intelligent energy storage systems with the ability to integrate renewable energy sources that harness 100% certified renewable energy, including solar. The company’s off-grid self-sustaining charging solution also provide a safe and reliable alternative mobile energy source, reducing the strain on the grid. An added advantage is that Kelle Energy’s robot EV chargers may be deployed in locations where traditional power grids are not accessible, like in many part of Southeast Asia. Also, without the need to construct a charging point for every carpark lot, carpark owners are given the flexibility to engage Kelle Energy’s robot EV charger flexibly, with the ability to scale in the future. “When my co-founders and I first came across the BESS systems in China, where EV technology is one of the best, we were very excited with the prospects this technology could offer to Southeast Asia, with some modifications. After some research, testing and enhancements, including the creation of a mobile app, we are now ready to launch and hope that Malaysia and Singapore will be our champions for robot EV charging in this region,” says Jason Koh, CEO of Kelle Energy. Kelle Energy aims to have 1,000 in Malaysia by end 20253 and 2,800 by 2028 and to reduce up to 168MWh of power from the grid. For Singapore, Kelle Energy has plans to deploy 300 such robots. “With each robot EV charging unit, we can reduce the number of EV charging points that need to be built. By using BESS systems to balance the load, we can also reduce reliance on non-renewable energy sources and alleviate the pressure on the grid during peak periods. In addition, this is surely more sustainable, affordable and manageable for most cities. This is great motivation for my team and I to continue finding better solutions and to make our product even better as technologies advance in this field,” adds Jason. • Luce : The Champagne Sunday Brunch @ the Intercontinental Singapore

LUCE Presents A Refreshed Italian Experience With New Chef de Cuisine Andrea Rossi LUCE , the beloved Italian dining destination nestled in the luxurious confines of InterContinental Singapore, unveils a brand-new experience under the guidance of new Chef de Cuisine, Andrea Rossi, who hails from Ravenna – the culinary heartland of Italy’s famed region of Emilia Romagna. Launching on 6 May 2024, the exciting new chapter of the restaurant invites guests on a culinary journey that features the quintessential essence of la dolce vita, unveiling buffet spreads that span a premium selection of lunch and dinner curations as well as a luxurious Champagne brunch on Sundays that celebrates the culinary heritage of Emilia Romagna. Truly a revamped selection of à la carte dishes brimming with authentic flavours straight from the heart of the Italian peninsula adds to the refreshed chapter at the restaurant. We went to check it out in mid-August 2024, and this is our coverage and review of their new offering, that encapsulates the rich tapestry of Italian Cuisine. It was simply exquisite, dynamic and absolutely fantastic in every corner of the taste department. Bringing together the best of Northern and Southern Italian cuisine, buffets at LUCE are elevated with a delectable spread that encompasses delights from both the land and sea. Feast your eyes on a bounty from the sea with a Fresh Seafood. Cold antipasti options like the Stuffed Bell Peppers and Roasted Mushroom Salad will whet appetites, while an assortment of Freshly-Baked Bread serves as perfect accompaniments. There will also be a selection of Sashimi and Sushi, as well as fresh greens from the Salad Bar. Beginning at the raw section, we indulged in a plethora of Seafood on Ice, including seasonal live oyster, Boston lobster, snow crab, black mussels, Australian yabby, tiger prawns and sea whelk, before feasting on Premium Sashimi and Sushi. The fresh assortment of oysters, lobsters, yabbies, clams, mussels, snow crabs, whelk and prawns was enough to whet our appetite for a delicious seafood segment of the buffet and it went so well with our favourite Bauget Jouette Champagne. The Salad Bar boasts a bevy of fresh leaves and dressings, while the Cold Cuts station has the best Italian cured meats destined to ignite the senses of even the most discerning charcuterie enthusiast. Additionally, the extensive Artisanal Cheese selection highlights the finest offerings from each region of Italy, including the rare Ubriaco Al Whiskey – a whiskey-soaked and barrel-aged cheese from the Northeast Veneto region. As with every visit to Nonna’s home, comfort soups are a must-have part of the experience, and guests can enjoy them in two delightful variations: La Pasta e Fagioli, a hearty Emilia Borlotti bean stew with savoury pancetta ham and vegetable mirepoix (this was so yummy), as well as a rich Double-boiled Chinese Herbal Soup. Chilled delights include standouts such as the Foie Gras Mousse with Duck Breast and Japanese Lobster Salad (tasty), while appetisers like a Caprese Salad, Seared Tuna Niçoise Salad and House-cured Salmon Platter set the stage for heartier mains to take centre stage. A full spread of LUCE’s Roman-style Pinsas awaits during the Champagne brunch buffet, with eight selections to choose from. Flavours deeply rooted in the classic Neapolitan from the South include the La Margherita Classica and La Parmigiana. Meanwhile, La Tartufata and La Mortadella highlight ingredients from the Northern Emilia-Romagna region. From the same region, savour the pasta dish, Girelle di Pasta al Forno Emiliana, which is a baked pasta dish stuffed with ricotta and mascarpone cheese, green asparagus, and brown butter. For other pasta choices, the Gnocchi Sorrentina stands as the pride of Sorrento, featuring pillowy potato dumplings enveloped in a vibrant Pomodoro sauce and topped with creamy mozzarella - (this was just meltingly delicious) while the Spaghetti di Gragnano alla Bolognese sees perfectly al dente spaghetti coated in a deep, the way we love it! The Champagne Brunch sets the stage for a memorable Sunday with its convivial ambience and live DJ (which played to fantastic chill tunes for a beautiful Sunday brunch culinary experience with champagne) , enhanced by theatrical live stations. We watched as chefs skillfully toss Fettuccine Truffle Alfredo in a Parmesan wheel, complemented by Truffle Cream Espuma or Roman Carbonara Espuma - wonderful!. Seeking to enthral with its savoury and succulent meat is the Pollo Ripieno, a Tuscan- style rice-stuffed roasted chicken served with Nocellara olives, wild mushrooms and chicken jus - truly traditional but fits well with our Asian-centric palate. We were pretty impressed with the beef, lamb, chicken and roast sections which was truly tender, aromatic and went along with the dips and sauces. At Luce , every meal is transformed into an engaging spectacle, making it a beloved venue for everyone - from business gatherings seeking an extraordinary touch to family celebrations, friendly reunions, or romantic dates. Their theatrical open kitchens and interactive live cooking stations add a dynamic layer to your dining experience. The Porchetta di Manzo e Salsa Verde is an incredible slow-cooked masterpiece, resulting in the most tender beef slices served with zesty salsa verde and comforting potato fondant. At the same time, the Bollito Misto showcases a diverse selection of gently boiled cuts of Emilia-Romagna beef, veal, chicken and pork in an aromatic broth. In addition to the delectable array of Italian fare, Asian selections promise to elevate guests’ experiences. Loyal patrons of InterContinental Singapore will also enjoy the hotel’s Signature Prawn Noodle Soup, featuring succulent tiger prawns in a fragrant seafood broth. Dishes such as Malabar Fish Masala, Ayam Masak Merah, Sambal Petai Sotong, Fried Seafood Hokkien Mee, and a Dim Sum Selection will also be available, among many others, to showcase the diverse flavours of Asia. We love all the local creations that went along well with our seafood and Italiano offerings, it paired well naturally. Finally, dessert boasts an impressive line-up of 13 mouthwatering creations. From a luscious Chocolate Fountain with an assortment of ingredients to Marble Cheesecake, Raspberry Panna Cotta and Mango Osmanthus Pudding - so tasty and it made our afternoon even more brilliant!
