As awareness of the needs of Muslim travelers increases, Halal travel is playing a significant role in how destinations create and offer experiences. The recently published 2025 Mastercard-CrescentRating Global Muslim Travel Index (GMTI) indicates that international Muslim arrivals reached 176 million in 2024, marking a 25% increase from 2023, and are expected to rise to 245 million by 2030. At that point, total travel expenditure is anticipated to hit USD$230 billion, underscoring the increasing impact and economic potential of this dynamic market. To remain competitive, those involved in travel and tourism must adjust to the changing requirements of Muslim travelers, emphasizing purpose, inclusivity, and digital innovation. The 10th edition of the GMTI outlines the major trends and leading destinations influencing the future of Halal-friendly travel. Key Consumer Trends Impacting Halal Travel GMTI 2025 identifies five significant trends influencing current Muslim travel preferences: Smart Apps for Halal Journeys: Muslim travelers are increasingly using digital tools that provide seamless access to faith-aligned services and tailor-made experiences. The Modern Female Muslim Traveler: Women are significantly impacting the Halal travel sector, increasing the demand for safer, inclusive, and thoughtfully designed spaces. Southeast Asia Leads in Muslim-Friendly Travel Southeast Asia continues to excel in GMTI’s destination rankings for both OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation) and non-OIC categories. Among OIC destinations, Malaysia maintains its leading position, known for its accessible Halal-friendly services and infrastructure. Indonesia also ranks highly, celebrated for its rich cultural experiences and government initiatives to support Muslim travel. In the non-OIC category, Singapore remains the frontrunner, recognized for its focus on inclusivity and cultural sensitivity. Thailand and the Philippines are steadily emerging as promising Muslim-friendly destinations in Southeast Asia. Thailand offers warm hospitality and an increasing number of Halal-certified services, while the Philippines is improving its ability to serve Muslim travelers through enhanced Halal food access and Muslim-friendly features at major tourist sites. Beyond Southeast Asia, Hong Kong has become a prominent non-OIC destination, ranking third in the GMTI 2025. The city has heavily invested in Muslim-friendly infrastructure, with 61 hotels accredited by CrescentRating and 153 restaurants certified as Halal by the Trustees of the Islamic Community Fund of Hong Kong. - Namia River Retreat
Namia River Retreat : A place for transformation : An inspiring experience : A serene sanctuary offering ancient therapeutic remedies and healing wisdom to achieve inner harmony Introduction A Stay at Namia means entering a haven of healing traditions, mindful tranquility, and profound cultural connections. Our visit was characterized by special reset and delightful rejuvenated moments as we stepped into this amazing oasis located on a peaceful islet overlooking the Thu Bon River, and a short bike ride from the UNESCO Heritage Town of Hoi An. Rosette Media Overall Rating : 9/10 As we embraced this anticipated journey of inner peace and rejuvenation, we wanted to truly uncover the true meaning of serenity, of nature, of total mindfulness, and of complete wellness. This amazing resort, focused on wellness, offers an absolute novel travel experience on Vietnam's central coast, where each visit encompasses traditional Vietnamese spa treatments, daily wellness practices, and cultural experiences by this peaceful, serene river. As we were greeted at the airport, we eagerly awaited our 40-minute drive from Danang Airport, and as we entered the welcome reception area, we could literally absorb the relaxation vibe omnipresent throughout the entire retreat ensemble. The hospitality accorded was spot-on, and attentiveness was a trait amongst all the staff that looked after us., throughout our entire 3-day stay. Quynh, our personal host concierge for the stay, took us through the paces and explained the various amenities as she brought us around on the resort and personal villa tour, providing specific details towards the meal arrangements, the activities at the resort, the sunset cruise itinerary...simple details that make our stay more memorable and definitely very personal, and at the call of my phone and Whatsapp/Zalo messaging - this gives me the flexibility to contact Quynh at any time, with any query that I have, including my planned trip to the city of Hoi An, and the river shuttles between Namia and the city. Villa Perspective - Nipa Pool Villa Namia River Retreat sets a new standard for luxury with 60 expansive, well-equipped villas, each offering a private pool for ultimate privacy and peace. We stayed in a Nipa Pool Villa, a true representation and inspiration created from a Nipah-Palm inspired design, complete with the right demure color intonation and soothing ambience derived from the use of woody materials, bamboo, nature at it's best! Environment sustainability at it's finest! Our Nipa Pool Villa has a private expanse of 148 sqm combining both indoor, private pool & terrace, complete with a tropical garden and nipa forest view. Essentialy an open-plan bedroom with a sunken bathtub that overlooks the pool, it contains a private en-suite bathroom and an outdoor terrace that leads to the pool lounger. Facilities include wireless internet, air conditioning, tea & coffee facilities, mini bar, safety box, telephone, television, hairdryer, vanity, indoor and outdoor shower and sunken bathtub, and bamboo bicycles. The 60 pool villas at Namia serve as private havens, drawing inspiration from the native nipa palm forest which dot along the entire design of this relaxing Retreat. Featuring natural textures, indoor-outdoor living spaces, and sunken bathtubs overlooking private pools, each villa reflects the calm rhythm of the river that runs along the side of Namia. I adore the design of the pool, which fits perfectly next to the bench chairs and offers a view of the expansive villa pool, situated just outside my bedroom. I quickly adjusted as I immersed my aching bones in the soothing waters, which eased the tension of my weary body after a demanding week. This experience brought me a profound sense of restoration and rejuvenation, accompanied by the sounds of birds and the tranquility that dispelled my worries. From morning swims to night-time soaks, Namia’s design seamlessly blends nature with retreat. The resort's highlight is a 180-degree heated pool overlooking the Thu Bon River, complete with waterfall hydrotherapy, reflexology jets, and floating lounges, truly a remarkable architectural wonder, a partnership between T3 Architects and Kanopea Architecture Studio. T3 Architects, located in Saigon, was selected for its proficiency in sustainable design, a key feature in this Namia resort project. Food and Beverage Namia’s two restaurants - The Merchant and The Fisherman - offer contemporary Vietnamese cuisine, local seafood, and sustainably sourced ingredients, all complemented by panoramic river views. Merchants serves more local Vietnamese fare whereas The Fisherman dabbles in more seafood, grills and western fare, and we explored both, to get a complete Food and Beverage experience emanating from the Namia concept. Led by Chef Thu Lê, a native of Hoi An who embodies the culinary knowledge passed down through generations, Namia’s kitchens pay tribute to the land and its stories. Guests can delight in plant-focused dishes made from seasonal, foraged herbs, participate in Vietnamese coffee workshops, or enjoy sustainable wines on the riverside terrace. Room Service - Breakfast We can choose to have room-service, basically Breakfast delivered to our villa as part of our room package and we did just that and ordered a menu of yummy Hoi-An vietnamese delectables and had the breakfast crew bring them into our villa, just so personal and wonderful, and superbly done up nicely, warm and hot, with aromatic coffee and tea! Impeccable! The Merchant An energetic all-day dining experience offering genuine Vietnamese cuisine, influenced by the historic trading port and diverse merchants from the East and West. Additionally, one can purchase locally sourced spices, coffee, or unique handicrafts from The Market display. Over 2 lunches , we dived straight into the local Hoi An delight, the Bò Cuốn Lá Lốt (an Organic Beef dish In Betel Leaves) - essentially a grilled organic beef wrapped in betel leaves, persimmon hot sauce, organic herbs and roasted peanuts; we also had the Bánh Canh Cua (a Shellfish Bisque) that was tastefully executed with a tasty Crab from Cham Islands, slipper lobster and coconut milk, thick and yummy! We knew we had to sample another special creation from the kitchen, so we ordered the Vịt Quay Cam Sành, aka the Namia River Duck - a piece of Crown breast, leg sausage, tamarind & citrus jus, just nice to fill our hungry stomachs. We also chose the Gà Nướng Sả - an interesting name for the Spatchcock Lemongrass Chicken, which was prepared with Turmeric, fresh tea leaves & burnt lemon - I like this a lot, truly bursting with flavor and so tender! Along came the Thịt Kho Tộ, which is a earthern bowl of Claypot Braised Pork Belly, comprising of eggplant, banana blossom, crispy onion and black pepper, another local favourite and typical of this region. The Bò Bít Tết otherwise knows as the Rib Eye Roll Steak was done to close perfection as a medium well dish with green peppercorn sauce and beef jus, all lovely lunch dishes accompanied by the local white rice variant or Cơm Gạo ST25, fragrant yet fluffly! We knew we were in for a treat when I saw the Chè Dưỡng Nhan, which is considered a Traditional Beauty Soup in Vietnam; filled with gingko, lotus, peach resin, goji, chia, longan; this chilled honeyed soup was the perfect end to an already exciting meal! The Fisherman A full-day relaxed dining experience exclusively for hotel guests, drawing inspiration from the fishermen and local seafood markets of Hoi An, so one can indulge in fresh seafood and wild herbs from the stunning Cham Islands. They have reimagined traditional flavors, drawing inspiration from the tranquil river life, fishing communities, and the subtle Japanese influences present in Hoi An. Their menu honor the area's rich culinary heritage while emphasizing sustainability., as the restaurant works closely with local farmers to source seasonal ingredients, minimize waste, and avoid the use of plastics. All guests to the Fisherman can truly relish a relaxed dining experience that highlights the region's fresh flavors and their commitment to environmental responsibility. For dinner, we had the Cá Chẽm Nướng or Grilled Seabass that came with lemongrass, chili, garlic and green peppercorn sauce, along with a regular Pho Bo (which is not in the menu, but they managed to do a superb version of it), along with Sò Quạt Nướng which is actually a Grilled Horn Scallop that was grilled to perfection with yuzu vinaigrette, radish, cucumber and shiso - so delicious! We then ordered a Mỳ Ý Nghêu which is a Vongole Linguine with clams, garlic and parsley. Dessert fare was amazing with Kem Các Loại or Seasonal Ice Cream, and we ordered vanilla and chocolate as the main flavours. Accompanying this dish was the most amazing dessert that I have taken this decade, the Dưa Hấu Nướng otherwise knows as the Grilled & Chilled Watermelon and this was so fascinating, with the watermelon nicely grilled with that toasted lingering forward taste combined with mint, passionfruit, sake granita and shiso. (Rosette Media Rating at 9.5/10 for their Grilled & Chilled Watermelon) Mindfulness and Wellness One can enhance their Namia stay with extra mindful experiences, such as beginning the day with a Vietnamese Duong Sinh—a soothing practice of breath and movement—or participating in a Silent Walking Meditation inspired by Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh, encouraging a connection with nature and immersion in tranquility, or even arrange for a yoga session, or use the well-equipped gym as part of your Wellness stay. The signature rituals at Lumina Spa and Wellbeing are inspired by ancient Vietnamese traditions, including Xông Hơi herbal steam therapy, moxa sticks, and the unique practice of Diện Chẩn, a type of Vietnamese facial reflexology created by Professor Bùi Quốc Châu. Guests can enjoy traditional Southern Vietnamese Herbology wellness therapies that utilize fresh, local herbs for healing. Each guest is offered a 90-minute wellness journey per person per room night stay to rejuvenate their mind, body, and soul, so typically you will enjoy a wellness spa regime daily for the entirety of your stay at Namia, and this is truly brilliant! I never had this sort of wellness program planned for me, throughout my stays in many resorts all across Asia Pacific and Europe. Our spa and wellness experience begins with a herbal remedy prescriptiom crafted in Namia's in-house apothecary, followed by a 30-minute herbal hammam and a 60-minute treatment. The therapist will crush and mix a gentle herb exfoliation with a custom blend of mugwort, licorice, angelica, frest perilla and green tea leaves to improve circulation as she washed away my aches from my feet, as part of the commencement part of the wellness regime. This is followed by the usage of a natural paste that is applied with a light massage with angelica, licorice powder and perilla leaves, cleaning my feet in the process. The wellness treatment is typified by a full body massage, after they taken note of the parts of my head, body, legs and feet that require more attention, focusing on tension relief in the body, incorporating traditional kneading techniques with a healing oil blend and mugwort moxa stick. Drawing from the healing knowledge of Vietnamese herbology (Thuốc Nam), Namia redefines wellbeing for the modern traveler, providing curated wellness pathways inspired by native botanicals, ancient rituals, and mindful hospitality. Guests are encouraged to slow down, reconnect with themselves and the environment, and rediscover the art of deep rest. Before the commencement of our wellness regime, we had the Anti-inflammatory Herbal Tea, which is a circulation-boosting tea witlAsian flowers, longan, licorice and ginger. After our treatment, we savoured the Sleeping-enhancing Herbal Tea, where we sipped on a tea of chrysanthemum, lotus seed, passion flower, preparing for restorative sleep for the evening. Additional therapies on the menu include Vietnamese massage, cupping, and acupressure to further enrich the wellness experience. Each guest can select from two complimentary wellness pathways during their stay: the Deep Rest Pathway for stress relief, improved sleep, and mental clarity; or the Body Balance Pathway to alleviate tension, enhance circulation, and reduce inflammation. To end the day, guests can indulge in an in-room ritual of a relaxing mugwort and cajeput bath soak, promoting deep relaxation as they unwind from a day of healing. Building on this momentum, IMDA will be working on three new partnerships designed to strengthen AI adoption and boost cyber resilience across the SME landscape. • Partnership with Alibaba Cloud to raise cloud and AI capabilities – up to 3,000 SMEs and digital solution providers will receive support to raise cloud and AI capabilities through the Alibaba Cloud Digital Accelerator Programme. This comprehensive initiative equips businesses with practical cloud experience and technical resources, including support through cloud credits, technical training workshops, expert consultations, and trial access to Alibaba’s Cloud AI Model Studio. • Partnership with Prudential Singapore to enhance GenAI adoption – under the GenAI Xponential Programme, Prudential in partnership with its Talent Engagement Ecosystem partner, Republic Polytechnic, will produce a series of up to 10 GenAI tech explainer videos tailored for SMEs, and conduct up to four workshops to help SMEs learn more about IMDA’s pre-approved GenAI solutions and promote adoption. • Partnership with ST Engineering to launch the SME CyberResilience Programme – this initiative will provide up to 2,000 SMEs with a one-time complimentary cyber threat scanning service through IMDA's CTO-as-a-Service platform, while equipping them with crucial insights into emerging cyber threats and defence strategies through dedicated awareness events. The new partnerships are part of the efforts under the DEB to power the next bound of digitalisation for enterprises. Since its launch in May 2024, the DEB has benefitted over 10,000 enterprises under its four key focus areas: empowering enterprises to Be Smarter, enabling them to Scale Faster, equipping them to Be Safer, and Upskilling Workers to make full use of digital capabilities. Expanding GenAI support for Digitally Mature SMEs Many digitally mature SMEs (DMEs) may still face challenges when deploying and sustaining the use of emerging technology like GenAI to meet their complex business needs. IMDA’s GenAI x Digital Leaders initiative was launched in 2024 with the aim to help DMEs build digital capabilities and overcome these key challenges. Together with AWS and Microsoft, over 200 enterprises have been equipped with deeper technical understanding of GenAI and gained greater access to tech expertise and advice on deploying GenAI solutions. A number of these DMEs have since proceeded to work on the development and deployment of customised GenAI solutions. IMDA is currently supporting 50 DMEs with project implementations that deliver concrete business impact - generating an estimated productivity increase of as high as 50% and annual cost savings of up to S$300,000. Building on this success, IMDA is strengthening its partnerships with AWS and Microsoft to accelerate frontier technology adoption. The enhanced initiative aims to reach more than 1,000 enterprises and support up to 500 projects in the coming year. The expanded collaboration will deliver twice the number of Tech Discovery Workshops and personalised Tech Deep-Dive sessions, while significantly reducing solution development costs and time by half by tapping on the latest technology development tools with pre-built GenAI modules. DMEs will gain enhanced access to technical expertise, including subject matter experts and model developers, backed by essential resources such as compute power and cloud credits. This comprehensive support structure will enable DMEs to transform their strategic business needs and objectives into practical GenAI solutions more efficiently and cost-effectively, marking a significant step in Singapore’s digital enterprise ecosystem. Collaborations with AI Singapore and leading companies to provide 800 AI Practitioner job and training opportunities for locals The demand for AI talent continues to increase as leading companies set up AI Centres of Excellence (CoEs) and build up their AI teams and activities in Singapore. To meet this demand, the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) is boosting efforts to build Singapore’s AI talent pipeline. Through the TechSkills Accelerator’s (TeSA) Company-Led Training programme, IMDA has secured 400 local AI Practitioner roles through collaborations with leading companies such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft, Oracle, and SingTel. IMDA is also partnering with AI Singapore (AISG) and the industry to launch two new frontier training programmes, which will provide another 400 AI Practitioner job and training opportunities for locals. • AI Apprenticeship Programme (Industry) (AIAP(I)) – To train more locals to take up job opportunities in AI Practitioner roles. Pinnacle AI Industry Programme (PAIP) – Uplifting local AI Practitioners in frontier companies into expert model builders. Set to launch in June 2025, the AIAP(I), developed in collaboration with AISG, will equip locals with critical AI, Data, and Machine Learning skills, and the opportunity to hone their skills in real-world projects through a six-month programme. The AIAP(I) aims to train 300 AI Practitioners in batches over two years. Upon completion, trainees will be ready for hiring by AI COEs and leading companies. In addition, to build deeper technical expertise such as advanced AI model building and fine-tuning demanded by frontier companies, IMDA has partnered AISG’s SEA-LION team to develop the PAIP. This initiative is expected to be launched in the second half of 2025. It is an intensive six-month full-time programme that will upskill 100 local AI Practitioners in frontier companies into expert model builders over three years. First Pan-Southeast Asia AI Developer Challenge to create scalable AI Solutions AISG launched the first Pan-Southeast Asia AI Developer Challenge, which will unite regional developers in building practical AI solutions using AI models like SEA-LION. This initiative will empower developers to create scalable AI solutions in the region, bringing meaningful impact for our society and region. Summary Asia’s leading enterprise tech event, ATxEnterprise 2025, concluded its most ambitious edition, drawing attendees from over 110 countries - a 5% increase in international participation from last year. - TFWA 2025
TFWA Asia Pacific Exhibition & Conference maintains its reputation as the leading travel retail trade event for the Asia Pacific region The event continues to serve as a vital platform for travel retail businesses throughout Asia and beyond, featuring 16 of the top twenty global retailers like China Duty Free, Avolta, and Heinemann, along with most leading Asian airports such as Tokyo Haneda, Delhi Indira Gandhi, Singapore Changi, and Hong Kong International Airport. Scheduling business meetings remained a top priority for attendees, with a record 1,100 meetings arranged through the ONE2ONE meeting service, marking a 20% increase from the previous year. Enhanced personalized follow-up processes significantly reduced no-shows. Workshop attendance rose by nearly 49%. The Market Watch: China workshop was packed with 319 delegates, and the India session drew 237 attendees, a notable increase from the previous year’s 222 and 151 delegates, respectively. Over three-quarters (78%) of visitors were from the Asia region, with over a third (39%) being travel retail operators, airports, and landlords, and 40% were agents or distributors. In total, 216 companies showcased on 205 stands, including 54 brands new to the exhibition or returning after a hiatus, such as Japanese whiskey brand Nikka. A more stringent pre-qualification process ensured that all visitors were high-caliber industry professionals. The networking events were well-received, with over 1,500 entries to the after-work TFWA Asia Pacific Lounge. Additional seating, more space, and a variety of foods enhanced the guest experience and created a relaxed atmosphere. The lounge hosted special events like an airports' gathering and a Women in Travel Retail reception, staying busy throughout the week. On Sunday night, 1,200 people attended the Welcome Cocktail at the Gardens by the Bay. Across the event, an upgraded design offered a premium experience. The exhibition halls featured a softer, more contemporary aesthetic, while the Welcome Cocktail’s floral arrangements, live trees, and atmospheric lighting in tranquil blues and greens created an 'Enchanted Garden' ambiance. TFWA President Philippe Margueritte commented at the end of the week, “TFWA Asia Pacific Exhibition & Conference has always been a valuable channel for brands from the US, Europe, and the Middle East aiming to expand in a growing market. The increasing presence of local brands indicates that it is also seen as a springboard to the global market by regional names and an opportunity to enhance their profile in their home territories. The debut of new brands at the show and the high attendance at both formal sessions and networking events demonstrate the region’s significant importance to our industry. “With 3,039 visitors, our numbers are slightly down from last year. However, amidst uncertainty and political unrest like the situation between India and Pakistan, which prevented many Indian delegates from attending, it’s gratifying to welcome so many senior decision-makers in travel retail to Singapore. Serious business has been conducted this week, with attendees focused on making decisions and closing deals. “As an association guided by the principle ‘by the trade for the trade,’ we strive to provide the best value to our members by regularly gathering their feedback and then innovating and investing to meet their evolving needs. For Cannes this year, we have several new elements planned to ensure the show remains relevant and continues to be the most important date in the travel retail calendar.” A new generation of travelers Margueritte described this new generation of travelers as confident and living in the moment. “With a high proportion of Gen Z-ers among them, we understand their habits. They are digital natives, constantly using their smartphones. If they’re Indian, 64% will share photos or video-call while shopping, discussing options and seeking opinions. For this group, visuals are crucial, and they seek immersive environments that blend physical and digital elements.” Margueritte warned against complacency, emphasizing that this isn’t enough. “A recent survey by the World Travel and Tourism Council shows that over four in five global travelers value sustainable travel. 75% are willing to travel more sustainably next year, including Gen Z-ers. In travel retail, sustainable initiatives have increased as our industry embraces this issue. Sustainability must be central to everyone’s strategy as we plan for the future. At TFWA, we are committed to this cause. I’m pleased to share that the TFWA Asia Pacific Exhibition & Conference tracks its carbon footprint, diverts waste, sources over 70% of its food locally or regionally, and uses 100% recycled paper.” Summarizing these concepts, Margueritte stated that traditional brick-and-mortar airport duty-free stores may not appeal to this new generation. “They view shopping as more than just transactions or accumulating possessions. It should be an experience to enjoy and share, stimulating the senses and offering excitement. This is evident as Gen Z’s footfall in travel retail is higher than other generations, yet their conversion rate and average spend are significantly lower. Clearly, this group isn’t finding what they want in our stores, or they aren’t sufficiently attracted by what they see.” https://www.tfwa.com/

- A Peranakan Journey - Lobby Lounge | Intercontinental Singapore
The Lobby Lounge celebrates InterContinental Singapore with a year of traditional Peranakan dishes To celebrate the rich heritage of Peranakan cuisine, The Lobby Lounge at Intercontinental Singapore invites guests to explore the authentic flavors of their cherished heritage through a series of beloved Peranakan dishes, embarking on a yearlong Peranakan Journey. Designed to celebrate InterContinental Singapore's rich history and its prime spot in the arts and cultural district, A Peranakan Journey presents a refined exploration of iconic dishes, reimagined with classic elegance. A PERANAKAN JOURNEY Peranakan cuisine is a distinctive culinary art form that effortlessly blends Chinese, Malay, and Indonesian culinary traditions. It fuses the aromatic herbs and spices of Southeast Asia with the refined techniques of Chinese cooking, resulting in a remarkable gastronomic experience steeped in history and tradition. We went through the auspices of this amazing journey with Chef Putra, who cooked us a beautiful meal depicting this Peranakan experience, one evening, with Hayden from the Lobby Lounge in attendance and tending to our every need. Capturing the essence of Peranakan cuisine, we sampled the cherished Babi Pongteh in April, a classic Nyonya-style braised pork dish. This sumptuous creation includes tender, slow-cooked Kurobuta pork belly, shiitake mushrooms, and taucu—fermented yellow soybean paste—imbued with rich, savory flavors. In addition to the Babi Pongteh, we tried the traditional Chap Chye, fragrant coconut rice, and Achar, a medley of pickled vegetables, all elegantly presented in the classic 'tingkat' style. It's a true symphony of senses and emotions as we dive into this incredible dish; the aroma is irresistible, and there's a tingling umami infused within the primal richness of quality pork. Every bite presents a textural dance; the flavor unfolds with a savory depth, accentuated by a hint of salt, pepper, and perhaps a subtle smokiness from precise heat control. Sharing this labor of love is more than just a meal; it's a memory served hot, a celebration of skill and passion that transforms simple ingredients into something extraordinary! A Peranakan Journey began in February 2025 with the cherished Beef Rendang Tingkat Set . This luxurious and aromatic Nyonya coconut beef stew features tender Australian bone-in short rib, carefully slow-cooked and braised in a rich blend of coconut milk and an exquisite array of spices. In June 2025, another celebrated dish in Peranakan cuisine will be launched and this is the iconic Ayam Buah Keluak, a culinary masterpiece with bold and intricate flavors. This dish includes a tender bone-in chicken leg, slow-braised in a rich, velvety gravy infused with tamarind, homemade sambal belacan, and an assortment of aromatic spices. The signature Buah Keluak, known for its earthy and nutty essence, is stir-fried until fragrant, adding depth to the dish. This timeless classic offers a harmonious and indulgent taste of Peranakan heritage. The highly popular Nyonya Popiah, reimagined by The Lobby Lounge’s culinary team, is launching in July 2025. This exquisite creation is wrapped in a delicate spring roll skin, providing a soft and velvety texture. Inside, a generous and harmonious filling awaits—succulent tiger prawns, savory Lap Cheong (Chinese pork sausage), sweet and tender turnip, and crisp lettuce come together in a perfect symphony of flavors and textures. This dish is elegantly complemented by a rich, sweet soy sauce and chili, delivering a refined twist on this beloved Peranakan classic. With each thoughtfully crafted dish, guests are invited to savor the harmonious blend of cultures, flavors, and traditions that define Peranakan heritage. From intricate techniques to the use of premium ingredients , A Peranakan Journey is more than just a dining experience—it is a tribute to the vibrant legacy of the Peranakan community, brought to life in the elegant ambiance of The Lobby Lounge. A La Carte Menu | Additional Samplings Along with the Peranakan Journey, we also sampled some lovely new dishes from their seasonal dining menu, including the Signature Oeuf En Meurette, a special dish from France that combines the essence of a crispy Soft Poached Organic Egg done to classique perfection along with Pancetta Ham, Swiss Mushroom, Sourdough Toast, Red Wine Reduction and Micro Cress, truly very special and tasty! Signature Oeuf En Meurette We also had a Classic Black Angus Beef Tartare that was taken from an Australian MACKA'S Striploin and tossed up nicely by Hayden, and filled with superb ingredients and taste boosters, including a combination of Lilliput Capers, Gherkin, Parsley, Egg Yolk, Tabasco, Grain Mustard and this was served with French Fries and Mesclun Salad, just so special! This premium beef tarter was just exquisite! Interesting enough, we also tried the Har Cheong Gai, and the showcase of 6 lovely Crispy Prawn Paste Chicken Mid-wings, was done to perfection, and one of the best Har Cheong Gai, I have had, so this is highly recommended! - Chopard |Red Carpet Collection ‘Caroline’s Universe’
The new Red Carpet Collection that Chopard will be presenting at the 78th Cannes International Film Festival showcases the personal universe of its Artistic Director Caroline Scheufele. Serving as the Festival’s official partner, and artisan of the Palme d'or since 1998, the Maison will unveil 78 Haute Joaillerie creations this year, whose unique and daring designs – inspired by flowers, animals, couture, gems, the cosmos and the heart – are driven by exceptional expertise. The True Essence of Beauty & Elegance To mark the 60th anniversary of the Cannes Film Festival in 2007, Chopard’s Co-President and Artistic Director Caroline Scheufele launched the first Red Carpet Haute Joaillerie collection. “ From the outset, I wanted the Red Carpet Collection to have as many pieces of jewellery as the number of years the Festival has been in existence” says Caroline Scheufele, whose passion for cinema led her to form this partnership with the competition in 1998. “ This collection is designed for actresses to sparkle as they climb the famous steps, thereby honouring Chopard's reputation as the red carpet jeweller." Immersive and intimate After ‘ Cinema’ , ‘ Arts’ and ‘ Contes de Fées’ , the theme of the 2025 Red Carpet Collection explores Caroline Scheufele’s personal universe, rather than simply what she is passionate about. Diving into her life’s environment and surroundings paints a very subtle portrait of Chopard's Artistic Director’s multifaceted personality, much like a diamond. Inspired by animals, flowers, couture, gems, the cosmos and the heart, ‘Caroline's Universe’ reveals the creative inspiration behind Chopard's most imaginative Haute Joaillerie collection. Caroline's universe “ Each piece of jewellery is a stage; each precious stone tells a story in which the art of jewellery reflects both my personal journey and universal emotion” explains Caroline Scheufele. The 2025 Red Carpet Collection comprises 78 necklaces, rings, earrings, bracelets and jewellery watches crafted in Chopard's Haute Joaillerie atelier in Geneva. The latter are home to more than 40 artisans, such as model-makers, stone cutters, jewellers, gemsetters and polishers. As the opening date of the 78th Cannes Film Festival draws near, Caroline Scheufele reveals the first creation from this year’s Red Carpet Collection: a magnificent choker. This necklace, made of white ethical gold and diamonds, most prominently features an exceptional 129-carat Colombian emerald cabochon. The result of 450 hours of collaboration between the atelier’s various master artisans, this bejewelled marvel is sure to cause a sensation around the neck of one of the actresses on the Croisette. A visionary approach By introducing jewellery glamour to the steps of the Cannes Film Festival, the world's most publicised event after the Olympic Games, Chopard continues to display a visionary approach. In 2013, Caroline Scheufele introduced ethical gold into her jewellery collections, inaugurating Chopard's ‘Journey to Sustainable Luxury’ by the same token. Ten years later, she unveiled Caroline's Couture at an exclusive fashion show in Cannes: an array of Couture silhouettes of her own design, intended to highlight her Haute Joaillerie creations and the women who wear them. These represent two complementary offerings uniting the finest craftsmanship under the aegis of Chopard Co-President’s creative talent. https://www.chopard.com/en-sg
