  • New Eden

ArtScience Museum opens a portal to extraordinary new worlds New Eden uncovers fresh perspectives on science fiction through the lens of Asian women artists and collectives A journey to alternative realms awaits visitors at ArtScience Museum’s latest major contemporary art exhibition, New Eden: Science Fiction Mythologies Transformed. Making its global premiere on 21 October, the exhibition will uncover new perspectives on the genre of science fiction by presenting 24 women artists and collectives from Asia, whose works have been inspired by the region’s history and cultures. Curated by ArtScience Museum, New Eden weaves together narratives found in the Western literary and cinematic genre of science fiction, with ideas rooted in Eastern spiritual traditions that have evolved over millennia. It finds synchrony between speculative ideas in science fiction and concepts embedded in Asian spiritual frameworks such as Buddhism, Hinduism, Taoism and Shintoism, alongside other diverse belief systems of Southeast Asia. The exhibition also confronts the historically Western and male-dominated genre of sciencefiction, foregrounding the diverse voices of women including Cao Fei, Patty Chang, Lee Bul, Mariko Mori, Moon and Jeon, Sputniko! and The House of Natural Fiber. Featuring close to 70 contemporary artworks, historical artefacts, and film extracts, New Eden sheds light on the connections between science fiction imagination and Asian philosophy andmythology. With popular science fiction concepts such as parallel universes, interdimensional travel, and transcendence deeply rooted in Asian philosophy, New Eden draws lines between these cultural traditions, suggesting that some science fiction tropes could have their origins in Asia. “New Eden launches a season at ArtScience Museum that explores science fiction. While it hasbecome a topic of fascination within the artworld in recent years, rarely is science fictionapproached from the perspective of Asia and through the work of women. New Eden changes this narrative. It is a major new interdisciplinary exhibition that delves into the intersectionality of science fiction and Asian spiritual philosophies through the creative praxis of Asian women artists and collectives. It moves between ancient mythology, contemporary art, and post-modern cinema, celebrating the dream worlds, future visions, and fantastical realities of Asian artists, showing that women and alternative voices are calling for a more inclusive future,” said Honor Harger, Vice President of ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands. Curated by Gail Chin, Joel Chin, Adrian George and Honor Harger from ArtScience Museum, New Eden: Science Fiction Mythologies Transformed unfolds across eight chapters, depicted with narratives throughout the entire showcase. ArtScience Museum Daily: 10am – 7pm (Last entry at 6pm) 6 Bayfront Avenue, Singapore 018974 https://www.marinabaysands.com/museum.htm

  • BMW 5 Series and first-ever BMW i5

NOW IN SINGAPORE - DIGITAL, DYNAMIC AND ALL ELECTRIC Since 1979, the Performance Motors name has been synonymous with BMW. Today, they have become a household name because no one understands BMW, or their customers, better than PML. Throughout our journey, they have been driven by only one thing — Performance. And for them, performance is not limited to just the cars we sell. It is rooted in everything we do. From pre-sales to sales and to aftersales. From launching innovative programmes to exclusive customer privileges. In fact, anything and everything that will enhance the BMW experience. They are Performance Motors. Where Performance Matters. BMW Asia today launched the all-new BMW 5 Series Sedan, a car that is more dynamic than ever, featuring a wealth of digital innovations and for the first time, all-electric drive. As the first-ever BMW i5 Sedan, the new edition of the world's most successful business sedan takes the lead on the road to sustainable premium mobility in the upper mid-range vehicle segment. Consistent electrification, advanced BMW Curved Display and control system with “QuickSelect”, new digital services, and increased sustainability throughout the entire product life cycle characterise the progress made in the fields of the future, which are centrally important in the current transformation of the BMW Group. We went for a special showcase to view the car models over at Sentosa Golf Club and we were thoroughly impressed with the new design, performance, sleekness, interior, styling and drive, when we took it for a test-drive! Superb and amazing! The new model generation will be offered in Singapore with all-electric drive and highly efficient petrol engine with 48-volt mild hybrid technology. Like all previous model generations, the all-new BMW 5 Series Sedan is produced at the BMW Group Plant Dingolfing, where the electric motors and high-voltage batteries for the first-ever BMW i5 Sedan are also manufactured. "The BMW 5 Series is a car that needs no introduction, and the numbers speak for themselves – in the past 15 years, we have sold more than 16,000 units in Singapore,” said Lars Nielsen, Managing Director, BMW Group Asia. “The feeling of empowerment that the car exudes is addictive and inspiring at the same time. This is an experience that our customers crave for and can expect every time they get behind the wheel.” Launch Edition. A total of 20 units of the all-new BMW 520i and first-ever BMW i5 eDrive40 (10 units per variant) are available in Launch Edition guise for customers to purchase in Singapore. The cars’ interior and exterior trims, kidney grille and 20-inch wheels are exclusively finished in Titanium Bronze. These exquisite detailing add a touch of flair like no other and further enhance the executive sedan’s poise and appeal. Sporty elegance and striking presence with a new design language. A clear and reduced design language emphasises the all-new 5 Series Sedan’s sporty elegance and presence. Compared to the predecessor model, the new edition has grown in length by 97 millimetres to 5,060 millimetres, in width by 32 millimetres to 1,900 millimetres and in height by 36 millimetres to 1,515 millimetres. Its wheelbase was lengthened by 20 millimetres to 2,995 millimetres. The front view of the all-new BMW 5 Series Sedan is characterised by a modern interpretation of the twin headlights and BMW kidney grille. LED elements arranged almost vertically serve as turn indicators and daytime driving lights. The BMW kidney grille, which projects far forward, features a wide surround and BMW Iconic Glow contour lighting. In the side view, the high shoulder line, powerfully designed surfaces and two precisely traced character lines shape the vehicle’s athletic body. Black side skirts, flush-mounted door openers and an embossed number 5 at the base of the C-pillar are further eye-catchers. The dynamically stretched proportions flow into a powerful rear end. Flat rear lights divided by a chrome strip interpret the hallmark L-shape expressively. Driving pleasure and travel comfort combined with innovative flair. The all-new BMW 5 Series Sedan offers ideal conditions for enjoying hallmark BMW driving pleasure in everyday traffic and a high level of comfort on long-distance journeys. Generous space, modern functionality, a high level of acoustic comfort as well as high-quality, precisely processed materials, fine workmanship and advanced digital services characterise the ambience in its interior. The cockpit of the all-new BMW 5 Series Sedan has a significantly reduced number of buttons and controls compared to the predecessor model. This is achieved by consistently digitalising functions. The BMW Curved Display reinterprets the brand's hallmark idea of driver orientation. The fully digital display system consists of a 12.3-inch Information Display and a 14.9-inch Control Display. The steering wheel has also been redesigned with a flattened lower section and haptic feedback on the control panels, and the selector lever on the centre console. The BMW Interaction Bar is another highlight. The effectively backlit functional unit with crystalline surface structure extends across the entire width of the instrument panel far into the door panels and includes touch-sensitive control panels. A first at BMW: Fully vegan interior. Newly designed sports seats are standard equipment. The optional comfort seats offer a wider range of electrically operated adjustment options. The all-new BMW 5 Series Sedan is the brand's first model to feature a fully vegan interior as standard. This includes the surfaces of the seats, the dashboard and the door panels, as well as the steering wheel (except M Sport models) for the first time. The seat surfaces in the Veganza version with leather-like properties are also optionally available with a decorative perforation. Further optional equipment includes BMW Individual Merino leather upholstery in several bicolour variants. BMW i5 eDrive40: Advanced BMW eDrive technology, traditional rear-wheel drive. The all-electric BMW i5 Sedan is equipped with extensively enhanced fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology. The first-ever BMW i5 eDrive40’s electric motor drives the rear wheels and generates a maximum output of 250 kW/340 hp and a maximum torque of up to 400 Nm with Sport Boost or Launch Control function. The first-ever BMW i5 eDrive40 accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 6.0 seconds, its top speed is 193 km/h. The space-saving high-voltage battery is located in the underbody and provides a usable energy content of 81.2 kWh. In addition to the efficient electric motors, the latest version of adaptive recuperation and an intelligent combination of heat pump technology for heating and cooling the interior, drive and high-voltage battery contribute to the long range. The WLTP values are 497 - 582 kilometres for the first-ever BMW i5 eDrive40. With the new MAX RANGE function, the range can be increased by up to 25 percent if required by limiting power and speed and deactivating comfort functions. Innovative eCharging solutions from BMW Charging. The Combined Charging Unit (CCU) of the first-ever BMW i5 Sedan enables AC charging with an output of up to 11 kW. The high-voltage battery can be charged with direct current with a power of up to 205 kW. For example, the battery charge level in the first-ever BMW i5 Sedan can be raised from 10 to 80 percent in around 30 minutes. Charging in Singapore. To make electromobility simple and straightforward for customers, BMW Asia has been collaborating with Greenlots, a member of the Shell Group, since 2014, to provide home and public charging options for customers in Singapore. Today, BMW Asia continues this partnership by offering BMW i customers either a comprehensive home or public charging package under the Shell Recharge banner: For home charging, customers will receive a wall-mounted AC charger with complimentary installation service. For public charging, customers will receive a subscription package of 10,000 kWh over 3 years at Shell Recharge stations with no monthly cap for charging. This is equivalent to 50,000 km of driving range (assuming average energy consumption at 20kWh/100km). The wall-mounted AC charger provides a fast way to charge their vehicle at a rate of up to 11kW. Once the vehicle is plugged in, charging begins and will end automatically when the battery is fully charged or has reached the pre-determined level. In addition, BMW i models are compatible with all Type 2 public charging stations that are widely available across the island. BMW Charging gives drivers access to one of the largest networks of public charging stations located in various office buildings, shopping malls, hotels and industrial parks in Singapore. Activation of and payment for the chargers can be done through an RFID card or the Shell Recharge smartphone app. New petrol engine with 48-volt mild hybrid technology. The petrol engine from the new modular generation of BMW Group Efficient Dynamics engines will be offered in Singapore. The all-new BMW 520i now features 48-volt mild hybrid technology and is combined with an 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission. Unique balance between driving dynamics and travel comfort. The all-new BMW 5 Series Sedan's characteristic balance between maximum sportiness and high-level long-distance comfort is enhanced once again in the new edition. The longest wheelbase in the executive sedan segment, increased track widths at the front and rear axles, an almost perfectly balanced 50 : 50 ratio axle load distribution, intelligent lightweight construction and increased body and chassis connection rigidity contribute to this. The extensively advanced chassis technology, like the control systems, has been model-specifically adapted to the weight balance associated with the respective drive technology. It includes directly controlled wheel slip limitation, integrated braking system and sport steering with variable steering ratio as standard. M Sport models get a lower and sportier suspension system. Light alloy wheels in 19-inch or 20-inch sizes are standard equipment. Light-alloy wheels up to a size of 21 inches and performance tyres are offered as options. Parking Assistant Plus including Reversing Assistant as standard. The all-new BMW 5 Series Sedan is equipped with Parking Assistant Plus that includes the Parking View, Panorama View front and 3D View functions. This shows a 360-degree image of the all-new BMW 5 Series Sedan and its surroundings from different perspectives on the Control Display. In addition, the Remote 3D View function allows drivers to view a three-dimensional live image of the vehicle and its surroundings transmitted to their smartphone (available for Apple iPhone from operating system iOS 16.2). With the optional Parking Assistant Professional, automated parking and manoeuvring of up to 200 metres can be controlled in the vehicle or by smartphone outside the vehicle. Intuitive operation and new digital experiences: BMW iDrive with "QuickSelect" and BMW Operating System 8.5. The enhanced BMW Curved Display and control system with "QuickSelect" also contributes to the characteristic driving and travelling experience in the all-new BMW 5 Series Sedan. It is based on the BMW Operating System 8.5 and features a redesigned home screen with vertically arranged function icons on the driver’s side. “QuickSelect” enables functions to be accessed directly without having to switch to a submenu. This means that the system has received an improved menu structure, oriented towards devices from the consumer electronics sector. The new BMW iDrive is also combined with the BMW Curved Display and the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. It is consistently designed to be operated by means of a touch display and natural language. In addition, the all-new BMW 5 Series Sedan also features steering wheel buttons and the BMW iDrive Controller on the centre console. The BMW Live Cockpit Professional includes the BMW Head-Up Display and Augmented View on the Control Display or instrument cluster. The standard BMW Natural Interaction is also available for controlling functions using gestures. Other innovations include the Welcome Scenario with light show and personal welcome, which optionally also includes the dynamic light carpet. The BMW Digital Key Plus is now available for suitable smartphones with the iOS or Android operating systems as well as for the Apple Watch. The all-new BMW 5 Series Sedan offers a choice of up to six My Modes to deliver an all-immersive vehicle experience. The standard equipment also includes optimised smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. With the Remote Software Upgrades function, the vehicle always stays up to date with the latest software. With BMW ConnectedDrive Upgrades, customers can also test selected functions free of charge for a period of one month and then book them for a specific term. • The World's 50 Best Bars

SIPS IN BARCELONA NAMED THE WORLD’S BEST BAR, SPONSORED BY PERRIER, AS THE WORLD’S 50 BEST BARS 2023 LIST IS REVEALED The annual list of The World’s 50 Best Bars, sponsored by Perrier, was unveiled as part of a live awards ceremony in Singapore on Tuesday, 17 October 2023. Held in Asia for the first time in its history, the ceremony once again celebrated the excellence of the international drinks sector, paying tribute to the visionary bartenders, enterprising bar owners and trailblazing brands that lead the charge in shaping cocktail culture around the world. The World’s 50 Best Bars 2023 features establishments from 28 cities, with Barcelona’s Sips crowned The Best Bar in Europe and The World’s Best Bar, sponsored by Perrier. This is the second time a bar from Barcelona has taken the top spot in as many years, following Paradiso’s triumph in 2022. We were truly amazed at the turn-out which was super cosmopolitan and very global, as we saw many international sponsors, guests, bartender artistes and cocktail professionals support this beautiful showcase. As Singapore play hosts to this year's show, it truly represents the epitome of the industry, to celebrate the dynamism and quality of the scene across the globe. The List 1-50 Located in the heart of Barcelona’s L'Antiga Esquerra de l'Eixample district, Sips combines elegant design with cutting-edge technique to create an unfussy and playful ‘drinkery house’ from two titans of the industry, Simone Caporale and Marc Álvarez. Drawing on the lessons of their already illustrious careers – Caporale was one half of the creative duo that led London’s Artesian to The World’s Best Bar title a record four times, whilst Álvarez spent almost a decade at Ferran and Albert Adrià’s revolutionary elBarri restaurant group – the duo’s disruptive approach to creative mixology shines through in innovative haute couture serves at pret-a-porter prices. The bar’s atmospheric interior encompasses muted pastel and gold-accented seating orbiting a futuristic workstation in place of the traditional bar. This design removes any barrier between guest and bartender, with the aim of centring the human aspect of service to create a multi-sensory, immersive drinking experience. William Drew, Director of Content, 50 Best, says: “As the brainchild of cocktail-world icons Marc Álvarez and Simone Caporale, Sips was destined for greatness even before it rocketed into the list at No.37 just a few short months after opening in 2021. The bar seamlessly translates contemporary innovation and technical precision into a playful cocktail programme, accompanied by the warmest hospitality, making it a worthy winner of The World’s Best Bar 2023 title.” New entries shine in Asia In the host city of Singapore, Jigger & Pony is at No.14 alongside Sago House (No.32) and re-entry Atlas at No.48. They are joined by Seoul newcomer Zest, winner of this year’s Disaronno Highest New Entry Award, at No.18. Bangkok, Singapore, Hong Kong and Tokyo each feature two bars in the list, with Bangkok’s BKK Social Club taking the top spot as The Best Bar in Asia at No.13 and welcoming neighbour Mahaniyom Cocktail Bar, entering at No.19. Tokyo stalwart Bar Benfiddich (No.37) is joined by The SG Club, which re-enters the list at No.36. Hong Kong is represented by Coa at No.20 and Argo at No.34. The World’s 50 Best Bars, sponsored by Perrier, provides a definitive list of the world’s best drinking venues, voted for by an Academy of over 680 experts worldwide. The World’s 50 Best Bars list has been published annually since 2009 and has become the most anticipated ranking for drinks professionals and cocktail aficionados across the world, with the awards the highlight of the bar industry calendar. William Reed, which owns the 50 Best brand, is entirely responsible for the organisation of the awards, the voting system and the respective lists. The complete list has today been revealed for the seventh year. The annual list is decided by a voting panel comprising 680 independent drinks experts, from renowned bartenders, educators and consultants to drinks writers and cocktail specialists. • Austrian Gourmet Week

Returns to Andaz Singapore with Culinary Maverick and Austria's Chef of the Year 2021 - Chef Max Stiegl, from 13 to 17 October 2023 Food aficionados in Singapore are invited for a thrilling gourmet adventure like no other from 13 to 17 October 2023 with Gault & Millau Austria’s Chef of the Year 2021 Max Stiegl. With a penchant for disruption and a palate for innovation, Chef Stiegl has earned his moniker as the "Kitchen Anarchist" for his unapologetic approach to cooking that turns tradition on its head. Nestled in the heart of Burgenland, Chef Stiegl's restaurant, Gut Purbach, is a gastronomic pilgrimage destination, attracting epicureans worldwide, including the renowned Anthony Bourdain, all in pursuit of savouring Stiegl's celebrated "variety meats" (offal) delicacies. Chef Stiegl will delight with a menu featuring his signature dish “Chicken In The Bubble” – chicken cooked in a pig’s bladder, stuffed with decadent ingredients like duck liver and truffles under the skin. A rare treat to taste fresh produce, this five-course menu will delight food adventurers. Expect a twist of Austrian classics including chef’s Ratatouille, an artful medley of Viennese vegetables; Oafish; a typical Austrian dish with cauliflower and poached egg; and Ritschert, a comforting and hearty stew served with smoked eel. For dessert, taste unique flavours with a Viennese Bread Soufflé, served with orange liqueur and corn ice cream. Max Stiegl - The Kitchen AnarchistA cooking extremist at heart, Chef Stiegl is famous for his multi-course offal menus. Nothing is wasted in the kitchen of his acclaimed restaurant Gut Purbach, not only out of respect for the animal but also due to his belief that this is what makes a good cook - the ability to process an entire animal from mouth to tail. Gourmets travel from all over the world to visit his restaurant which typically has a long wait list. In winter, Chef Stiegl orchestrates the Sautanz, an extraordinary food festival known as a 'feast for the senses'. Every element of the pig is masterfully crafted into exquisite dishes and one can taste where tradition's essence and the spirit of togetherness converge in a symphony of flavours and camaraderie. Tickets to Sautanz this year are selling out fast, with limited availability for 9th and 16th December 2023.His personal journey to culinary stardom is nothing short of remarkable when at the age of 19, he was the youngest chef of all time to be awarded a Michelin star. With a background steeped in culinary traditions and commitment to sustainability, Chef Stiegl has developed a reputation as one of the most innovative and creative chefs in the world of gastronomy. When he's not in his kitchen or visiting producers, he's a regular guest on cooking shows with his open, warm personality and typical sense of humour. We have a video of Anthony Bourdain visiting Chef Max Stiegl. Burgenland Austria's easternmost province, fascinates thousands of guests every year with its rich offerings. In the heart of the European continent, visitors can expect culture and nature, wellness, wine, culinary delights and sporting activities. The mild Pannonian climate provides a unique holiday mix for all ages and demands. Where land and people live in harmony - a mild climate and diverse, exotic landscapes, from the salt flats in the steppe to the wooded, gentle hills in southern Burgenland, the rich fauna with 300 bird species in the Seewinkel or 450 butterfly species on the Geschriebenstein, as well as a lush flora with real rarities such as the chess flower - these are the ingredients with which Burgenland provides holiday bliss for nature lovers. • Yarra Valley - Victoria, Australia

Yarra Valley is an amazing region within the State of Victoria in Australia, and planning a regional tour of this region, would simply add charm, finesse, charisma, colour, spice and diversity into your total experience of Australia, aside from just visiting the familiar city of Melbourne. Less than an hour's drive from Melbourne, the Yarra Valley will have you feeling a world away, offering quality local food and wine, breathtaking scenery, romantic hideaways and indulgent adventures. The Yarra Valley is recognised as one of the world's premier wine growing regions with over 80 sensational cellar doors, superb restaurants serving fresh regional produce, luxury accommodation and more. Recognised as one of the world's great cool climate wine producing regions, the Yarra Valley not only has a rich history of wineries but also a significant history with beer and cider production dating back to early 1800s. Along with the famous Domaine Chandon (Moet & Chandon's Australian winery), De Bortoli and Yering Station, there are many other mid-size and boutique cellar doors providing an intimate wine experience you won't find in other wine regions. The Yarra Valley is a cool climate region with average temperatures of: > Summer : 26.6°C > Autumn : 20.4°C > Winter : 14.1°C > Spring : 19°C Destination Hopping - Road Trip around the Yarra Valley region 1st Stop - Yering Gorge Cottages For our visit to the Yarra Valley, we stayed over at the amazing Yering Gorge Cottages - set in the centre and heart of Yarra Valley and Eastern golf course, where the mammals roam freely, from Eastern grey kangaroos, swamp wallabies to wombats and echidnas. Nothing beats see teams of kangaroos, up close and personal, hopping around during dusk and dawn and almost throughout the entire day, right outside our cottages across the 120 acre countryside...roaming freely in their natural habitat! Amazing! Our coverage of the cottage stay is at this link.. https://www.rosettemedia.com/post/yering-gorge-cottages 2nd Stop - Levantine Hill Our first stopover is the awesome winery and cellar door of Levantine Hill; it is the perfect merger of two vineyards right in the heart of the Yarra Valley. On the one side, a vineyard producing superior grapes since the 1990s. On the other, lovingly planted family blocks right alongside a truffiére surrounding our Homestead. Together, this combined estate is pure testament to the passion and toil of dedicated human hands and man’s tenuous relationship with the nurturing love of Mother Nature. We simply adore the way they laid out the estate, the architecture, and the props which are absolutely lovely as a backdrop for social media sharing, a highlight of our visit here, aside from partaking of the wines and food at the cellar door and restaurant. Rising from the shores of the Yarra River at 75 meters and peaking at 225 meters above sea level, Levantine Hill vines thrive in looking out over steep clay loam slopes, at similar elevations to the Grand Cru vineyards of Chablis, France. This remarkable avant-garde space was created by Fender Katsalidis Architects, the same firm that designed the Museum of New and Old Art (MONA) in Tasmania, recognised as one of Australia’s great architectural achievements. For Karl Fender, given free rein by close friends Colleen and Elias Jreissati, it was a labour of love. In Karl they knew they had someone who shared their obsessed with perfection. And he repaid their faith with a building of timeless grandeur. With glorious views of the vineyard and the Yarra Valley across a spacious Village Green, the building and grounds also feature an array of wonderful paintings and sculptures by Australian artists. 3rd Stop - Healesville Sanctuary Our next stop is Healesville Sanctuary; we dropped by and met up with Donna and team. Healesville Sanctuary is part of Zoos Victoria. A not-for-profit, zoo-based conservation organisation dedicated to fighting wildlife extinction. Zoos Victoria is made up of four unique properties Melbourne Zoo, Werribee Open Range Zoo, Healesville Sanctuary and Kyabram Fauna Park, as well as a wildlife conservation team that works outside our zoo walls. Our coverage of the visit is here.. https://www.rosettemedia.com/post/healeville-sanctuary-yarra-valley-australia 4th Stop - Dominique Portet We visited this gorgeous winery serving Bordeaux-styled variants as the day progressed - lots of tourist and gastronomic attractions to visit.. Ninth-generation winemaker Dominique Portet chose the cool climate of aptly named Coldstream in the Yarra Valley as home to the eponymous winery he founded in 2000. It was the culmination of a tenacious search for grapegrowing terroir to rival that of his native Bordeaux – but also the start of a new chapter in a winemaking story that has its roots in France in the early 1700s, and so the origins of this awesome lovely wine brand has its humble beginnings liked to the wineyards in France. Our coverage of the winery is showcase here at this link.. https://www.rosettemedia.com/post/dominique-portet 5th Stop - Hubert's Estate Finally it was time for lunch, and we headed over to Hubert's Estate. In the heart of the Yarra Valley region is this dynamic and refined F&B and Wine establishment termed Hubert Estate, that is led by by the wonderful team of Ryan Hospitality, who is responsible for creating Michelton Winery and Nagambie Brewery & Distillery. This fascinating new Estate is designed by Cera Stribley and it juxtaposes the elements of food and wine together in a cellar-door, boutique wine store, event space and restaurant (heaps of people during lunch time, from even the close-by locals and corporate crowd) along with an art gallery, and with key plans to introduce accommodation and spa-wellness treatments by 2024. The link to this place https://www.rosettemedia.com/post/hubert-estate 6th Stop - Healesville : The Shire - The Town The Shire of Healesville was a local government area about 60 kilometres (37 mi) northeast of Melbourne, the state capital of Victoria, Australia and the main town itself is truly a charming place - quaint, calm, peaceful but has the feel of a tourist-centric town, but yet not crowded with tourists or packed with people - it's probably my fave town to visit in the world right now - truly a wonderful place for great coffee, food, shopping and art. We visited a few of the local stores including the famous Barrique Wine Store, which cuts through the Maroodah Highway in Healesville, and had a great time speaking with the proprietor, whilst he gave me a tour of his store, and spoke with me on the festivities, culture, local-feel and personality of Healesville and the Yarra Valley and township - truly amazing! Walking around town allows me to take on the local stride and experience, and also I pondered around a souvenir-wellness shop and a spice-ingredient store nearby! The locals are so friendly and helpful! Splendid! 7th Stop - Four Pillars Gin Next on our itinerary was the world-famous Four Pillars Gin, where we were taken on a personal tour, did tons of Gin variant tasting, and spoke with the owners and also the bartenders, they do lots of customized tours and are so friendly! Four Pillars Gin make their famous gin in Australia; the most delicious, diverse and creative place on earth. And that’s why they get to combine intense creativity around gin with a huge passion for hospitality and gin-fuelled fun. We visited the place at the end of the road leading from the main drag from the Healesville quaint town, on Lilydale Road, and saw tourists, both domestic and international, awaiting to sample and to tour this renowned gin entity. Our Four Pillars Gin experiential tour is captured here.. https://www.rosettemedia.com/post/four-pillars-gin 8th Stop - Chandon Chandon was founded in 1986 in the beautiful Yarra Valley on Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country. Since then, they have been crafting exceptional sparkling wine drawing from the diverse richness of our lands and benefiting from the expertise of their bold and passionate winemaking community worldwide. A visit to their winery provides an opportunity to immerse one in one of the most extensive collections of méthode traditionnelle sparkling wines in Australia, all while enjoying the breathtaking views of the surrounding Yarra Ranges. As we indulge their bubbly in one single flight of 3 bubblies, it truly immersed me in exploring their craft; one can also savour delectable dining options ranging from a chef's restaurant menu and also share plates in their lounge bar. The place was packed when I visited and I could see tons of well-heeled tourists and locals in their midst enjoying their sparklings, having some nice cheese platter and soaking in the setting afternoon sun! 9th Stop - Joey & Helen Estate Our final and last stop for this regional trip, before heading back to Melbourne city was Joey & Helen Estate; It's a beautiful story that started in 2010 with the purchase of a 200 acre farm on Spring Lane, in the heart of the Yarra Valley. Their cellar door is open seven days a week, from 10am to 5pm, and we visited them just before they closed, and the wine manager in charge took me on lovely tasting cellar door, and introduction to their wines, store and wineyard. Helen & Joey owners story is one of grit, determination, legacy, immigration, love of the land and a rich history of farming. To them the unicorn symbolises the softness and elegance they hope is reflected in their wines combined with the courage to have it’s own personality. Much passion, hard work and expertise has gone in to producing premium fruit across this stunning 200 acre farm that brings each visitor a cellar door brimming with unique tastes and diverse stories. As we were taken through the auspices and tasting flight, we enjoyed especially the Alicorns followed by the Wayward Childs, the Re-ems and the Inaras! RE'EM YARRA VALLEY Opening December 1st 2023 - Re’em will host the new Helen and Joey cellar door, as well as offering sixteen large, well-appointed suites, plus a new restaurant, with a contemporary fusion cuisine. Sixteen room boutique hotel will offer contemporary comforts and necessities fully equiped to cater for casual to long stays, business conferences, events & weddings. The Re'em Restaurant draws inspiration from southern Victorian produce and the cuisines of Helen and Joey’s birth places in China. Fusing elements of the disparate and diverse regional cuisines of Chengdu and Zhe Jiang with locally sourced seasonal produce. Yarra Ranges Tourism acknowledges the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation as the traditional custodians of the lands and waters of the Yarra Valley and Dandenong Ranges on which they live, work and play. They pay their deepest respect to Elders past, present and emerging. The restaurant, termed Quarters, sit 220 people and is led by dynamic chef, Michael Smith, who take on a modern curated approach, with finesse and European styled cuisine, exuding flavours, structure and fine ingredients. What drove me super-inspired and happy is the wonderful hospitality given by their chief custodian manager, who service attitude and personality is the best I have experienced whilst on my 16-day day in Australia, this July 2023.. Quarters boasts of a custom-built charcoal grill along with a fine-looking Italian-made Marana pizza oven, and we can see the culinary team busy with this apparatus whilst we were dining there, whilst we tasted an entire plethora of snack-lunch plates along with pizza and pasta, along with a superb smokey aroma that permeates the restaurant. With a menu full of familiar Modern Australian and European inspired dishes, Quarters is the perfect spot for foodies, families, and everyone in between. The Char grilled tiger prawns, so delicately done with chimchurri and charred lime was a sure winner, bursting with flavor and freshness! The dirty martini kingfish ceviche prepared with green olives and smoked caviar drove us wanting for more, with a clean slate of structure and balance. The cajun spiced baked cauliflower lightly toasted with parmesan and labneh, was just a culinary delight. The braised lamp campanelle tasted so good, as I never imagined lamb to be prepared in this format, so the melangé of roasted tomato and pangrattato became a superb dish. The grass fed Southern Rangers scotch fillet weighing 280 grams was delivered with harisa and charred baby gem lettuce - simply exquisite! It was such a delight to dine here, and it has and will become one of my favourite restaurants in Australia, modern, trendy, classique yet simply tasty and memorable! The wine style is very apparent notably with Pinot Noir which is so trendy now along with the estate's Cabernet Savignon and Chardonnay varietals, so the portions were good and wonderful and we very much enjoyed them along with our food pairing! • LUCE by Davide Giacomelli

Rosette Media Tasting Panel Rating : 9.3/10 LUCE ON THE PRODUCE, LUCE ON THE CRAFT, LUCE ON YOUR PLATE. Traditional Italian cuisine meets purity and simplicity in an art form - where flavours, taste, structure and freshness juxtapose with seasonal produce, colour, warmth, familiarity and creativity. The culmination of many years of training are conveyed in a distinctive menu that is characteristic of modern innovation in Italian cuisine. Chef de Cuisine Davide Giacomelli’s training under the tutelage of multiple Michelin-starred chefs throughout his career pays homage to his initial love affair - the sight, scent and flavours of classic Italian cooking at his father’s restaurant in the quaint town of Sirmione, ‘the pearl’ of Lake Garda. Davide has gained experience working at different restaurants, including Michelin starred restaurants Trattoria Vecchia Lugana, La Speranzina Restaurant & Relais and Villa Cortine Palace Hotel in Italy; he also worked in Monaco with one Michelin-starred restaurant Le Vistamar, located inside Hôtel Hermitage. Subsequently, he moved to Paris and worked with Le Diane, a one-Michelin starred restaurant, and also at Le Meurice Alain Ducasse, a three- Michelin-starred restaurant. Chef Davide challenged me on my rating score when we visited him one quaint noon time, and the type of audit rating that I would bestow upon him, given my many years of hospitality, in fine cuisine with a multitude of food tastings, and opening boutique hotels all over Asia; I like this sort of confidence in a culinary chef, it shows that there is no limit, as that means he understands technique, delivery, cooking methods, temperature - key traits that govern a superior dish! A-la Carte Menu You can have the choice of a semi-buffet lunch that goes for $48++ per adult and $22++ per child or you can go straight to the a la carte menu, which was our natural choice. We were tempted by the Crudo di Capesante, which was delivered in a bed of carpaccio garnished with horseradish, celery and daikon on top of seasoned Hokkaido scallop, neatly and thinly sliced pieces; the sharing from Chef Davide, on this dish, make it more tasty, and super exquisite. Next, we had another starter, the Polpo e Ceci, I get fascinated when I see the way octopus is cooked and presented in Spanish and Italian restaurants, so when this was brought to us - nicely done is classique Sicilian style, cooked and pan-roasted with chickpea puree (what a delightful mash) and fresh salad - it was crispy on the outside, almost burnt taste but not roasted black, yet tender on the bite, a testament to Chef Davide's expression and culinary expertise. Following this, we ordered the Acquerello Lobster, which comprise a lovely round dish of Carnaroli rice that is cooked for hours to absorb the natural goodness of lobster stock from a Boston Lobster; honestly, the best risotto I have eaten in my many years of gourmet premium tasting and degustation! Our Secondi, which is always my highlight in any Italian restaurant, was their Entrecote di Wagyu Australiano MB6-7 weighing 200g, packed with juicy split jus, and nicely pan-seared to medium rare, was a "Carrara" Wagyu beef entrecote that is cooked a la planca, with sufficient marbling, overspilling with that nice fatty ensemble tucked with a tender meat resonance. We had the choice of one or two contorni (side dishes), so we chose one which was termed Asparagi - aptly Asparagus prepared in two styles - the pairing was absolute with the marbling cut of the MB6 - Just Marvelous! Following the starters, risotto and secondi, we didn't have any more space for the pastas, the pizzas and other super palatable dishes on the menu; we didn't even have space for dessert, so that means we have to come back again, which was the whole idea! International Champagne Brunch Buffet On every Sunday and first Saturday of each month between 12 to 3pm, LUCE presents an enticing relaunch of its popular Italian or Frnehc Champagne Brunch; an expanded selection of international flavours with highlights on Italian specialities. Diners can truly embark on a gastronomic journey that transcends borders, embracing flavours from various cuisines while savouring the beloved Italian dishes that have made the restaurant a culinary favourite. Along with Live Music or DJ set with cool trendy vibe music, the Sunday brunch comes with an unlimited array of seafood, comprising of premium snow crab leg, freshly shucked oysters and mussels, Boston lobster and tiger prawns, a wide selection of tipples including Aperol Spritz, Prosecco, Champagne. In the Cheese room, there is a wide selection of Italian imported cheese and cold cuts, together with fresh honey and hand tossed Italian pinsas, and in the meat corner, there are meat carvings of roasted Angus beef striploin, roasted chestnuts, Orecchia di' Elefante Lombardy's signature veal chop, Italian beef stew, egg a L'Amatriciana. In the dessert selectione, there is the Luce-Misu, Nutella Bomboloni, chunchy choux pastries. We were very pleased with the dynamic spread, with a huge diversity of Italian, International and some local delights like the Old Cucumber Pork Rib Soup, which was absolutely tasty, being a Cantonese (who drinks soup on a daily basis), and this to me actually went very well with the seafood on display, and meats that were in full abundance, the Italian spreads were so juicy and tasty, and truly reminiscent of an era gone by, traditionelle la formidable! Adults $168++ with free flow Bauget-Jouette Champagne, Aperol Spritz and selected cocktails and wines $148++ with free flow Prosecco, Peroni Beer, and soft drinks $108++ with free flow soft drinks, juices, coffee and tea Children $38++ for children aged between 3 to 5 years old $68++ for children aged between 6 to 11 years old Chef Davide invites guests to experience an authentic Italian dining experience at the InterContinental® Singapore. either a la Carte or Champagne Brunch, go check it out! it's superb!
