Open to the public from 12 December 2025 to 22 February 2026, the SKULLPANDA CAGE-UNCAGE Showcase makes its international debut in Singapore after a successful initial run at the Gate M West Bund Dream Center in Shanghai, China. This exhibition represents the inaugural three-way partnership between POP MART, the Singapore Tourism Board, and the National Museum of Singapore. It invites both new and long-standing fans to explore the artistic vision behind the character, while enhancing Singapore's reputation as a vibrant cultural hub. The SKULLPANDA CAGE-UNCAGE Showcase, the first SKULLPANDA exhibition in Singapore, unites POP MART, STB, and the National Museum in a unique tripartite partnership. Through contemporary museum programming, this groundbreaking collaboration delves into the artistic craftsmanship and meaningful narratives inherent in collectible design and culture, while boosting Singapore's appeal as a destination with exciting offerings that resonate with both local and international audiences. Unique to this second run of the SKULLPANDA CAGE-UNCAGE Showcase is an installation inspired by Singapore's bird singing pastime, adding a distinctly local element to the experience. Beyond Collectible Culture Towards Artistic Experience Created by POP MART in partnership with Chinese artist Xiong Miao, the founder of North Studio art workshop and the mastermind behind the original SKULLPANDA character series in 2018, the SKULLPANDA CAGE-UNCAGE Showcase focuses on the titular character. This character was initially designed as a reflection of the artist, who embraces life's uncertainties and questions. Leveraging Xiong Miao’s extensive experience in game concept design, the showcase elevates collectibles as a medium for compelling art and storytelling. This multi-sensory and immersive experience enhances the artistic vision behind the character, prompting visitors to consider the possibilities and dilemmas of choice through six major themes integral to everyday life: Emotion, Fortune, Rules, Exploration, Life, and Direction. “ The SKULLPANDA CAGE-UNCAGE Showcase underscores our dedication to supporting artists like Xiong Miao in delving into deeper themes through collectible design,” stated Mr. Justin Moon, Senior Vice President & Chief Operating Officer at POP MART. “We are thrilled to present the showcase in Singapore, marking its international debut outside of China, and allowing us to share with a broader audience the vision of SKULLPANDA not just as a cherished character, but as a medium for meaningful reflection on the human experience." Visitors can anticipate larger-than-life art installations and sculptures featuring SKULLPANDA, interactive experiences, and immersive environments where everyday symbols such as door frames, locks, and keys are transformed into a visual language that encourages reflection on themes of confinement, freedom, choice, and self-discovery. Pop Culture as a Bridge to New and Diverse Audiences The strategic partnership and showcase continue the National Museum's exploration of innovative ways to engage with Singapore's contemporary history through the lasting appeal of collectible culture. Building on the success of the museum’s 2024 showcase, Play:Date – Unlocking Cabinets of Play , which was the museum’s first collaboration with POP MART, the SKULLPANDA CAGE-UNCAGE Showcase strengthens this partnership by further exploring the evolution of collectible culture, exemplified by industry leader POP MART and the SKULLPANDA character, known for its striking visual style and introspective narratives. Ms. Chung May Khuen, Director of the National Museum of Singapore, stated: “As the people’s museum, we are thrilled to host the SKULLPANDA CAGE-UNCAGE Showcase as it continues our exploration of collectible culture that began with Play:Date . Our commitment to examining contemporary Singapore involves engaging with cultural movements such as collectible culture, allowing us to leverage its widespread appeal to connect with diverse audiences through SKULLPANDA's artistry and provide new pathways to deeper museum experiences." Presented through the lens of SKULLPANDA, the co-curated Singapore-exclusive installation is inspired by the bird singing hobby, a traditional practice that has persisted over decades. This section introduces international visitors to a lesser-known aspect of Singapore’s heritage, paying tribute to a beloved community pastime that unites people, much like collectible culture. "International collaborations such as the SKULLPANDA CAGE-UNCAGE Showcase highlight Singapore's vibrancy as a location to present world-class creativity rooted in our unique destination identity. Development stage: IMDA will connect media professionals and companies with what commissioners/buyers seek and offer access to: Mentorships and masterclasses in areas such as story development (originals or adaptations), pitching skills, and deal negotiation, to refine their stories and proposals. This helps companies strengthen not only their creative concepts but also the commercial aspects of their projects, including financing models, distribution planning, and IP ownership structures, all crucial for industry sustainability. Global streamers and platforms, commissioners, international production houses, and showrunners to provide local talent with the exposure needed to penetrate the global market. Production stage: IMDA will co-fund co-productions, including a variety of regional and global co-productions, films, and TV (scripted and unscripted) as well as IP adaptations for the screen. This aims to position Singapore as a regional co-production hub. Distribution stage: IMDA will elevate the profile of Made-with-Singapore content, talent, and production companies through a dedicated in-house marketing team. Additionally, a marketing fund will be structured for select projects to enhance visibility. Singapore is showcasing how strategic international partnerships, such as the recent unscripted partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD), can amplify local storytelling on the global stage, with filmmakers collaborating with renowned international partners to bring authentic Singapore narratives to prestigious worldwide platforms. Ms Yvonne Tang, Assistant Chief Executive, Media Industry Group, IMDA, said, “IMDA is building a robust ecosystem where international partners see Singapore not just as a location, but as an essential creative collaborator. We believe that Singapore talent can hold their own alongside the world's best. TAP signals a fresh chapter in our endeavour to support and develop our film and television talent through world-class mentorships and masterclasses, strategic global partnerships, and a new wave of co-production opportunities. We hope to usher in a new era of Made-With-Singapore stories, that are made for the world.” Mediacorp and Linmon Media Mediacorp has announced a collaboration with the renowned Chinese production company Linmon Media on "Only Thirty-Five" 《三十五而已》, the sequel to the highly acclaimed Chinese drama "Nothing But Thirty" 《三十而已》. Supported by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), this partnership was formalized at the Asia TV Forum (ATF) today, signifying a new chapter in Mediacorp’s expansion into high-quality international storytelling and showcasing its growing creative impact across Asia. The Chinese drama series, set in both China and Singapore, will feature artists from both nations and will begin filming in these locations in 2026. By merging Linmon Media’s storytelling expertise with Mediacorp’s creative skills, the production will highlight top Asian talent and landscapes in a narrative celebrating ambition, independence, and reinvention in today’s fast-changing world. Su Xiao, Chairman and Founder of Linmon Media, commented: “Expanding into overseas markets is a long-term strategic priority for Linmon Media, and we are committed to growing alongside local markets and partners. The 'co-creation' concept transforms the traditional one-way nature of cultural output: we export China's established creative concepts and industry standards to Singapore and other regions to enhance their film and television industry capabilities, while simultaneously drawing creative inspiration from overseas remakes to inform our domestic IP development. In Linmon Media's international journey, Singapore has become one of our most valued markets due to its central position and advantages in Southeast Asia and the broader international market. We are excited to work with Mediacorp, a high-quality and innovative international production and broadcasting institution, and we look forward to further strengthening the connection between Chinese IP and Singaporean audiences and promoting cultural exchanges between us.” https://www.asiatvforum.com/en-gb.html
